Hello,
I need to write out thank you notes and am unsure about how to handle bridal shower and wedding gift. I had two showers (one planned and one surprise which was very sweet) close to the wedding, some of the guests attended both one of showers and the wedding. Do these guests receive two thank you notes or can I thank them in one note? Forgive me if the latter option sounds uncouth, I am not trying to be disrespectful. I am just not sure about the etiquette in a situation like this and whether the timing between the shower and the wedding matters...of course, the paramount thing is letting everyone how much I appreciated their show of support and affection.

Thanks,
AT

I just read yesterday in Real Simple Weddings that when they're close together you can use one thank you for both gifts. Just be sure to specifically mention both!

Thanks sillyberry! I appreciate your knowlege!

Sillyberry x2. No prob with one note, just get 'em out in a timely fashion, LOL.

If anyone wanted to 'go there' the only supersniffy thing about thank you notes is that they should not be written on THANK YOU notes, meaning have THANK YOU printed on them (I know a lot of people do disagree and have used them lots and these are sold almost everywhere but the poster is asking and I'm mentioning this because depending on whom the recipients are, some people do know that these are not, strictly speaking, correct).

why isn't it supposed to say 'thank you' on the card? (as long as you write your own handwritten expression of thanks on the inside...)

If the person bought you two gifts on two separate occasions, I don't care what the magazines say, I think it's polite to write two thank you notes. If you are at all concerned about offending someone, writing the "extra" thank you note can't hurt.
