I love this site. I knew practically nothing about diamonds until a few weeks ago, but after spending hours reading posts and researching on here I have learned so much. I wasn't even sure what I wanted exactly, so I was getting frustrated. Then this morning I read a post that led me to this setting

http://www.ritani.com/engagement-rings/halo-french-set-diamond-engagement-ring-in-palladium/4774

I said "that's it!" I was going back and forth between halo and no halo, but the clean lines and side view of the setting are gorgeous. Now onto the center stone. I really don't want a RB. I was thinking radiant or oval, but this setting can fit a cushion. I did some more research and decided that a blend of modern and antique cushion is what I like (of course I can't be simple). I like the lower table of a modern cut and the little flashes of light. However, some modern cushions looked like a disaster of cuts everywhere and I don't think that is appealing. Any experience with a Brellia cushion from GOG? I have realized I really like noticeable symmetry. I know BG is known for brilliant cuts so I looked there, but honestly I am so new at this I don't know what to look for. I can tell you what the colors of an ASET mean, but I'm not sure how that translates into real life.

I want the best performing cushion without sacrificing spread. I expect in our budget the stone will be right around 1.0 carat. The budget for the stone is 6K.

Any advice on options would be wonderful. Thank you so much for your time and help.

The spread on these is quite good at 6+mm, very square if that is what you are looking for, and BGD is doing a V-day promo on them.

And this one, GOG is backing with lifetime guarantee, I would guess it was cut by Yoram, aka "Diagem."

It's a really good SI2, and my GOODNESS 22.5% crown height. It would look smashing in a halo.

Well I'm not sure if you like chuncky cut or crushed so I'll post both. JA provides a 5% discount, so if you like one of these or up to three put them on hold and request aset images.

Crushed:

Chunckier:
