I wanted to start a feel good thread—not about bragging or humble bragging about our actions, but about what we perceive to be good fortune falling upon on us—period.
Ok. I’ll start. Earlier this week I wore my .85 bezeled oec pendant to work. I’m a high school teacher and my campus is huge. Half an hour into my morning, my prep period, I realized that my necklace was falling off me! I was wearing a scarf which is a no-no for me—scarf and pendant—no-no for fear that something like this would happen. I started desperately searching for the pendant on my person. Hoping it had gotten caught inside my shirt, bra. Ran to the bathroom. Nothing. I’m sweating at this point. Thinking of all the places I had been to in half an hour. Ran to every single location, my eyes on the ground at all times. Lo and behold, I spotted my pendant! It was upside down, so it was not shining—thank God!—bc there was a cluster of people chatting with each other about 6 feet from it who would have definitely noticed and perhaps kept it! Omg!! I can’t believe how lucky I got!

And now I have PTSD about wearing costly pendants to work but am feeling super lucky!

I should also add that I have forgotten my purse 4 different times at 4 different restaurants (in the span of 6 years)--and each time, amazing and wonderful people have turned them in. People are good!!

I am superstitious so cannot comment but to say I am grateful for all the good in my life. Truly grateful And I also know it can all change within a moment. Life is unpredictable and challenging but I will always remain grateful for the good and hopefully resilient facing the many challenges. Sometimes more resilient than other times ::)

Hi,
Awhile back I lost my wallet and within a few hours got a call from Jewel, a grocery chain, that someone had returned my wallet. I retrned to the store and went to the service desk and everything, money and credit cards were all there. There was no one to thank. It was found in the parking lot and must have dropped out of my handbag. What a relief.

I do not at all find PSers braggers. In fact, I find the opposite. I like when people are real. There are always those who will have bigger and better than most. Some people bragg about their children, but most on PS do not. I find it to be comprised of people who just enjoy participating. I just don't see the bragging. Life can turn on a dime. It has happened to me several times. But I really try to be grateful.

I never said all PSer’s brag. But if you read between the lines, there is plenty of it going on…but maybe humble bragging escapes YOU. Anywho… this thread is about good fortune minus our actions to bring it upon ourselves. That’s all I meant by my comment.

I was with both kids one day rushing into the grocery store, older son had a meeting to get to so we were pressed for time. As I was walking in, I realized I left all the bags in the car and said this to my older son. There was a woman getting into her car and she overheard me and said “oh here? I have plenty of bags” and gave me one from her trunk.

I was touched that she took the time to help us.

I have been helped many times by total strangers. Below is just one example.

Once, our car broke down in heavy traffic at a red light.
The man behind us pulled over. He helped my DH push our car into a parking lot, and then he drove us three miles to our house.
He was a member of the Sac and Fox Tribe from Oklahoma and he was with a film crew that was in town working on a movie.

We couldn't believe afterwards how he went out of his way to help us.
I guess we were lucky that we broke down in front of the right person!

DD’s contribution to this thread. She we t shopping yesterday and spotted a cashmere sweater for 30 dollars. Heck of a score, she thought. She takes it to the register and it rings up at one penny!!! The cashier told her, wow! You are a lucky customer! It’s one cent! She doesn’t carry cash and they didn’t want to charge her cc so she got it free! Lol.

I will say that 10 years ago, at the same chain store, I got a pair of designer leather tall boots for one penny!

I found a solid wood bunk bed in fantastic condition for for $1. That was already a deal and a half, but I took the ticket to the register and it rung up at 50 cents!

I think I have posted this a couple of times already, but my mom lost her diamond from her setting. She found it just teetering at the edge of her shower drain. The jeweler then crafted a new head and sautered it into the shank. On vacation she looked down and the entire basket, diamond and all, was missing. I kid you not, she found it at the bottom of the hotel's pool!

Some years ago, I was a new hire at a supermarket. I had only been there maybe a week.
Somehow I managed to leave my Tahitian pearl ring in the rest room. I freaked out and ran back, but it was gone.
I went to customer service where several employees were gathered. I said "OMG, did anyone turn in a pearl ring that I left in the ladies room?"
And one of them said "Is this it?" She had walked in after me. I hugged her and thanked her profusely.
Im sure they all thought I was crazy, wearing a big pearl ring to work, but this 'jewelry girl' can't help it.
(As a side note, her first name was Tennille. Her mom named her after Toni Tennille of 'Captain and Tennille', which I always found so charming.)

Some years ago I tried going up a very steep incline in my car with my dog when we went camping in the Lake District in England.

Not far up the incline I saw another car going down the slope and thought I should stop and let them pass.

Bad mistake, I rolled down and ended up in a ditch as the brake did not hold.

Some kind people helped to push me out of the ditch, luckily it was not very deep.

No damage to the car, just dented my pride.

Something up there was looking after us.

I still have flash backs from time to time of the moment when I knew I was going to end up in a ditch.

DK :(

During Christmas shopping one year I left my wallet at a store. It had my DL, $500 cash, credit cards but also the last note my dad wrote to me.
I called the store next day and they did not have it. Scoured my car and my office at work.
I stopped at the store 2 days later. And—they had my wallet!
Not only was all the cash there, and credit cards, I got my Dads note back.

It is now on a little frame by my bedside. As my husband said-never ever have something like that in your wallet!
I felt like I had won the lotto.

You won the lotto @Elizabeth35. Thank you for sharing. This was so touching to read.

Many years ago, I was on a trip in Europe. I had just landed in Vienna and was exhausted from an overnight flight from the US. I left what was then a very expensive camera in the back seat of a cab ($5K at the time). I needed that camera for work during the trip in addition to it being a budget-buster for me.

I realized my mistake once I had checked into my hotel, but by then the cab was long gone. I think I just about stroked out. My German isn't great, but somehow I managed to call the cab company and leave a message for the cabbie. Many hours later, after not hearing anything, I got a knock at my hotel door -- my camera! The cabbie, after his shift ended, had on his own time/milage, driven the camera back to my hotel and left it for me at the front desk.

Bless him! I had just flown in from NYC and in all probability that would never have happened there! (Or maybe it would have, who knows.)

NYC isn't always terrible! I've returned multiple found wallets over the years, a couple of cell phones, and more DL's and credit/atm cards than I can remember. And now, with credit cards and ATM cards, you just call the issuing bank via the number on the back, and tell them you found a lost card on the street, give them the info and they do the rest.
