I fell in love with a diamond yesterday - and have a question for all the 5 plus people. Do you get used to wearing all that sparkle? This is an 8 carat cushion - and it may be perfection for me. A large work accomplishment would allow me to get it - but I am afraid I would be too sheepish/afraid to ever wear it. Thoughts?

It's gorgeous on you! I have no where near 8cts, but if I could afford it, I definitely would wear it....with insurance of course.

I'd strongly suggest spending more time looking and trying on different shapes and weights of diamonds before making such a critical decision. I've seen emerald cuts that large that are gorgeous (the one below is over 9 cts) and a member here has a 5 ct antique cushion that is amazing. There are many good options but you may find one you even like better! So take your time and get a great cut stone that you love!

I love the idea of celebrating a work accomplishment with jewelry (congratulations!). I think you should be fine as long as you’re mindful of your surroundings and you insure the ring. You carry it off beautifully

Yes, I saw the antique cluster and committed to it instantly (before even talking to my husband about it). I offered to sell the solitaire to cover it. The cluster cost a bit less than half of what I got for the solitaire. I really have developed a love of old cuts, and I got tired of the modern one. So there is an OEC in my near future (it’s on layaway and I’m raising funds).
