They say it's a bad idea to name strays if you don't plan to adopt them. Oh well. Guess I'm keeping this one then. Just wanted to share some of my excitement on the internet over this 3.81ct star sapphire. (And yes, this was totally an unexpected find/ detour on the path to finding the perfect stones for my e-ring. More on that later, I'm sure, if I stick around on this forum). Without further ado, here are two vendor photos:

My photos (all indoors, taken in the late afternoon while the sky is semi-overcast):

There is a natural indent on the back and another small one on the side, so it's definitely not perfect, but perfectly identifiable :lol-2:.

These are with flash:

Excuse the hairy hands. Anyways. Let me know what y'all think. Did I do a good job with 250/ct? Honestly I'm so chuffed with it I'm almost tempted to give up my search and just stick this in a bezel for my e-ring. Initially I'd planned to put this in a pendant but now I think it's definitely going in a ring since the color is more subdued than I expected. Maybe a right hand ring with some side stones? (speaking of which, gemstones are such a dangerous addiction for the bank account...)

I love the translucence. Most star sapphires I see are rather opaque in that cat’s eye way, so this one is quite special.

So very pretty and I’m not usually a fan of star sapphires. Yours is lovely because it’s got a luminous translucency.
And yes, Rose gold with a small diamond halo will set it off perfectly.
well done.

I love your idea of using it as your e-ring, or maybe even an alternate one! I wear my avatar pic sapphire in place of my oec when I'm craving some color. I love switching them out, but know that's a bit untraditional.

But back to your stone, I love the creamy rosy color. It looks gorgeous on your skin. I would definitely wear it as a ring so I could look at it, either way.

I am absolutely charmed by it! I think you did great! I love the color and the silkiness. It looks perfect on you!

I second the concept that you are allowed to have more than one engagement ring. I didn’t get one, back in the day, because we were barely out of grad school and more focused on buying a house. But I have several romantic rings now, and they bring me a lot of joy. My avatar (sapphire heart ring) shows how rose gold looks with diamonds. Enjoy your beautiful star sapphire!

It’s absolutely stunning! May I ask where you purchased it?

You did wonderfully!

What a beauty! Yes, you did well for the per-carat price considering the delicate, even star and the high degree of translucency. It's an attractive body color that glows. Enjoy your star!

I echo everybody here that it's a glowy little dream and makes a statement. It's like having a moonstone and a sapphire all at the same time! That's a solid win, for me.

It's beautiful!
