Anchor, I watched a show on primitive camping tonight. Made me think of you and your plans for your trip with your boy. Sounds like fun, but I think I''d only be able to last a couple days. I''d need a SHOWER. But good grief, you''ll get some GREAT pictures of nature fee from anything modern, huh? Have fun!!!

flopkins - I''m not counting on him trying to throw me off... It''s too out of character for him, so I''d probably end up disappointed! And if he is throwing me off, then I''ll be pleasanly surprised!

fisher - Three days isn''t bad, really... It''s so much fun!!

It turns out I''ll be living with him during the week during my summer job contract because the commute was impossible from home. He''s like a kid at Christmas, bless him.

On the ring front, he''ll have all the money he needs with his next paycheck Friday in two weeks. Will he pick it up then or wait two more weeks like he says he will? We''ll see... Chances are that I''ll know because he''ll tell me!

I''m so happy for you anchor!! It sounds soooo soon for you!! And let me just say I''m so happy that you finally found a ring that you are soooo happy with!!! I think that once he gets that ring, there''s no way he''ll be able to wait ... and maybe you can just say how fun it would be to have a whole different day to celebrate ... (that''s why I''ve set the ground rules of no holiday/birthday/anniversary proposals ...) There''s no reason to wait once he has it, right?

Well, again, on a day when I can sneak in some internet time (still no consistent internet ...sigh) I wanted to make sure I wished you well and all the best ... just in case the magical moment happens before I can visit here again.

My job rocks, I really really love it! I work with a bunch of amazing people too!! It's so great to finally feel that I'm actually making a difference in something that really matters to me. It may seem insignificant to walk all morning (6-8.5 km daily!!) checking out people recycling bins and leaving notes in their mail about how to recycle better, but it does make a difference. Plenty of people come in the office everyday with the piece of paper we gave them, asking for a bin of they don't have one, getting a second or third bin, replacing the broken ones and asking for more information. It's really satisfying to see the result of your work, and I feel that I'm doing my part in trying to resolve the domestic waste problem, which is a very critical but often forgotten environmental issue. I've also been writing articles to publish in the community newspaper, and I'm planning on having them published in my hometown newspaper as well. Next week we'll start setting up informational kiosks, and we'll have shore cleaning chores and that sort of thing too. We also go and talk to kids on camps about recycling, water conservation, climate change, etc. We're planning a big conference on climate change for the end of the summer... So we're really busy! I love my job.

I'm down to a size 6! Whee!!

I have to admit that the adaptation process that comes with learning to live together is a bit harder than we thought. We had to fights this week.

We resolved the issues and things are fine, but we've decided to sit down today and talk about our needs and expectations so we can understand each other on this. I know I'm not an easy person to live with: I'm stubborn, independant and rather taken with my good old habits. With some talking and compromising we should reach an understanding; it has worked well in the past.

On a brighter note, yesterday morning he looked at me with a gleam in his eye, telling me he was looking forward to his next paycheck (next week!)...

I know he'll have all the money he needs to go pick up the ring then (a week before our camping trip too!! I am sooo going to get my hopes up...

), so I'm really excited. Apparently he is, too!

I talked to a couple of girls at work yesterday about the coming engagement, and I can't wait to show them the ring! I really hope he'll propose before my 9 weeks contract is over!

Your job sounds awesome -- I''m glad there are people in this world like you trying to make a difference. I recycle EVERYTHING, and get grumpy with people that don''t, so I can relate to how you feel about it. Hope the living arrangement gets easier soon... you guys have so much to look forward to, being on cloud 9 should helps things

Hey Anchor!

So good to hear that things are going well.

When my boyfriend first moved into his apartment (I wasn''t living with him, but I was over ALOT more) in any case we fought like cats and dogs. Everything was an issue. I''m a MESSY girl, and he''s clean. It insane how often we fought. But then everything calmed down. He''s used to it, because me being messy is like me breathing.

Although he told me that I need to get a cleaning service when we get married. OR ELSE!! It''s all good. It is an adjustement. In any case, can''t wait to see your ring. Should be awesome! Keep us updated.

I found a place to stay in Mtl near the university for the school year! Whee!!

Life is good.

Yay, Anchor! I''m glad you guys are doing well and working on things as they come up. Exciting about the ring, too!

Have a good time camping. We went up into the mountains yesterday, and went through a ton of camping sites. I thought of you, and asked Paul if he knew Anchor; she loved camping. He said, "Anch? Yeah, tell her hi and to have fun. Is she engaged yet?" I gave him the update for you.

Keep enjoying your job, too. Summer jobs and internships are such great experiences, and also excellent for making connections for later on.

Five days isn''t LONG at all! Yay!

I hope he gets it, can''t wait a moment longer, and then you can post here! Whoo Hoo! I was just thinking though, I''ll be SO happy when it happens for me, but gosh, I''ll miss this phase a little, too. Now, I have NOT told Paul that, since this phase has lasted MUCH longer than I thought it would, though. I don''t love it THAT much!

Heehee about the nickname. He does that with everyone. Calls someone here Wren and I can''t figure out who that is, but other than that, I think I know who his "girls" were around here, so I keep him updated from time to time.

Four days before the paycheck, but I''m really not sure if he''s going to get the ring right away. He might, and he might not. So... I guess we''ll see! He hinted (read: flat out told me) yesterday about proposing on August 31st, which is starting to make me wonder if he is trying to throw me off. Okay, my guy isn''t a subtle one. But come on... Telling me flat out when? That has to be suspicious. I blinked at him and told him he must be having me on, and he said: "Maybe..." ARGH!

He''s on holiday starting Friday and I''ll sleep over at my brother''s next week so he can sleep all he wants and won''t have to drive me to work during his holiday week. He''ll be by himself for the whole week until Thursday evening, so maybe he''ll get the ring then? Oh dear, I''m sooo going to get my hopes up for our camping getaway!

Things are improving on the living together arrangements thing. He''s learning to give me the personal space I need, and it makes a big difference. He''s a HUGE cuddler, bless him. Me, not so much, so I''d get irritated.

As I mentionned Saturday, I found a place to stay near the university I will be attending. It was really starting to worry me, and I found it!

I really love it, it''s a fantastic place. The landlady bought the place recently and are renovating the first floor to rent the four rooms to female college students. The floors are hard wood and everything''s furnished brand-new. My room is huge, and the rent includes everything, even the phone and Internet; there''s even a dishwasher! They''re working on a lounge for us downstairs, with a TV and stuff so we can relax without disturbing anyone else. There''s even a lovely little garden in the back we have access to... I''ll probably be there a lot on sunny days!

The best thing is that the landlady really wants to have a place for serious students, so she established a few rules so everyone can have a good studying environment. No noises after 10, everyone cleans up after herself, everyone will have to take out the trash in turn, etc. It eliminates the horrible roommates like I had before, so it''ll be great for me!

It''s five minutes'' walk from the nearest metro station, grocery store and drug store, so that''s great too. The freedom and accessible services are very welcome!
