I left this up to my husband.
He decided to go with tuxes because he wanted his two groomsmen to be coordinated. He bought a black tux and rented charcoal pinstripe tuxes for his guys. To make it less formal, he paired the tuxes with ties. This way he got the coordination of tuxes without the formality.
