Ugh, I love that one! It's my size too, but not my budget. Lol. I think it's a decent price for the piece. Not a banger, but decent. I think she does layaway if that helps?
Haha my budget is currently zero at the moment so the layaway wouldn't help. If it's still around in a year then maybe! Gahh hate finding things that are our size cause it's like a Cinderella piece.
This is so wonderful! I love the multiple ways this piece has symbolism and deep thoughtfulness (how the artist worked with the varying colors of the shell) combined with artistry and beauty. Lifetime jewel. Is this for sale somewhere? I can’t afford it but would love to check out other angles! <3
14k rosy yellow gold cormorant brooch, with a 0.03 OMC eye. This guy has a loooong story.
I live in a place where cormorants are native, and one of the greatest joys of early morning ferry rides is seeing them drying themselves out after fishing at sunup (despite being seabirds, cormorants do not have waterproof feathers and have to manually dry their wings out to fly again.) So of course when I saw this guy come in I knew I had to get him.
After a few months of work I had enough, and at my next meeting with my boss I asked if it was still available. Unfortunately it had sold, but they said it went to a good home. A bit disappointing, but all the better it wasn’t just sitting in the shop.
In what seems completely unrelated, I just graduated from high school. School has never been an even slightly enjoyable experience for me; I’ve withstood the whole shebang of bad experiences. So I did some overtime work and crunched my last year of school into only one semester instead of two. Of course my parents, who were also my rocks and biggest supporters during my bad experiences, were extremely excited and got me a few gifts.
Well, I got to find out who purchased that cormorant pin.
My mother always comes with me to my work, because I’m too visually impaired to drive. She saw me fawning over it and quietly made an over-the-phone purchase and had them store it in the vault until my graduation. She said it was only fitting, because apparently, cormorants are representative of hard work, courage, ingenuity, and are good luck charms for fisherman.
Thanks, Ma.
