I made a halloween dummy for the porch today--woo! I love decorating for the holidays.

omg my neighbors have a scarecrow that freaks me out everytime... I will NOT miss that thing

LadyP- i love your scary country guy! Does his eyes glow in the dark?

My neighbors at the bf house has a hanging dummy, but the eyes glow red at night and when the wind is blowing it sways lightly,and it has on a wedding dress and you cant tell its hung up, its so freaking scary. I cant wak the doggies that way

I worked there for 9 months. Went in HATING coffee (not that I admitted that in my interview) & come out appreciating good coffee.

Now I won''t drink Starbucks. (unless someone hands it to me)

For those of you who really like GOOD coffee, try getting raw beans (I''ve got a great source online) and roasting them yourself. SO YUMMY.

I''ve got a pound of Yemen Mocha waiting at home for me to roast tonight so I can grind it fresh in the morning. MMMmmmmmmm.


Really easy. Not expensive. No special equipment needed. Doesn''t take long.
(I can post a link to the beans if anyone wants -- 1st pound is free)

These guys are great. I just got 7 more pounds delivered Monday. If you tell them this is your first order (I think they even have a link on the website), they''ll give you the 1st pound free (you just pay S&H).
I''ll warn you though, it is SO GOOD. I got the one free pound and had to order more the day after it got here.
Yemen mocha, ethiopian mocha harar, and Indian Monsooned Malabar are my favorites.


How I roast (no special stuff needed):

Line a cookie sheet (or pyrex or fry pan) with parchment paper.
Pour some beans on -- no more than one layer thick and I won''t do more than 1/4 pound at a time (see warnings below)
Stick in a 375 - 400 degree oven.
Wait 2 or 3 minutes and then give a quick stir.
Listen for them to crack (you''ll hear it).
Take it out when it is the roast you like.


Things I''ve learned (warnings):

Coffee beans smoke when you roast them. The more you roast, the more smoke there is. (coffee beans almost double in size when roasted, so 1/4 pound or so is quite a bit after roasting)

When you hear them cracking it is NOT a good time to give them a quick stir. They DO pop around and WILL hit you in the face.

Even though the book says to roast at 500, don''t do it. The beans roast really fast and are hard to get to the right roast. (375 is my usual temp)


WARNING:

Once you''ve tried it and gotten the technique down you''ll never go back again. (B even quit drinking coffee at work -- says it just doesn''t taste like coffee)

I''ve ordered many pounds of coffee from them and never been disappointed. I even got my mom hooked.

They''ve got some great tea too.

I dunno. I''m awful about picking mattresses. I just go lay down until I find a comfy one. Then the bed disappears and somebody else takes my freaking mattress!!! Then I have to start all over again. Just once, I want to pick a mattress I get to keep!

I prefer to mattress shop while hungover. If it alleviates some of the nausea and head throbbing it''s the one! I have a bed they don''t make anymore otherwise I would highly recommend it!

That''s actually a really great idea...then you''ll totally know that it''s the right mattress for when you''re feeling the worst. I am filing this away for the next time I go mattress shopping

We have a california king natural latex mattress. We got it from Mulligan Mattress here in Portland. It is the most comfy mattress I''ve ever had!
