So for anyone who has been following my posts, you know that I have been ALLLLL over the place with my ring journey. From an MRB recut to a transitional set in a halo, to an amazing OMC split shank solitaire that I returned due to a bit too much warmth, to almost pulling the trigger on a 5 carat ACA, to more recently dipping my toe into the lab grown pond....clearly I love all diamonds, and it's been beyond hard to make a decision re: what should be THE ONE.

That said...today I encountered another amazing antique cushion circa 1900 that is even better than my last one! She's 5.90 carats, white facing K color with strong blue fluoro (which I loooove and has no negative effects on this particular diamond). It appears to be an amazing stone - the fire she was shooting off was BEYOND...it required no effort whatsoever to trigger it. She also faces up bigger than my 6.21 did at 12.07mmx11.59mm....which, let's be honest...may be too big for my small finger, but I'll table that concern for now. :lol-2:

Including some videos and photos below. I'd love any thoughts, red flag callouts, etc. before I pull the trigger. I'd likely do a similar setting to my old OMC, but this time with a yellow gold shank and platinum head/prongs.

Thank you!!

Aw boo, those videos posted blurry. I'll try to upload them somewhere else for a better view.

WOOOOOOOW!!!! That is ahhmazing!

That's not a rock...it's a BOULDER!
Wow that looks awesome

They're not blurry at all...I selected 1080p resolution and they're very clear and detailed.
Great videos!

She looks absolutely fabulous , and I'd never guess she was a K. At least you know you'll never get DSS!

I am dying over here. It is gorgeous; I am glad that you are considering an old cut ;)

Absolutely gorgeous! And I agree-Perfect for grocery shopping and such!

Ha! I was going to tag you since I had just mentioned my regret about the last one. ;)2

Wow, that is so pretty, the kind of bling you would love to stare at all day long.

Stunning. Looks amazing on your hand.

Wow! That is so beautiful and your hands and nails are beautiful too. That finger coverage is tdf and the stone is pretty too!

Thank you! I do love antique diamonds, the charm can’t be beat! My only hesitation is the white face up. I think this one is pretty darn good, but a modern cut might face up whiter. Guess I have to compromise one way or another!!

It’s glorious!!
(It’ll dress up with a gown or down with sweatpants. A perfect stone!)

Whoa how did I miss this?! Love the size and the face up color!! What’s your ring size again?

Start a new thread with a poll - modern vs old :)

Not a bad idea, love me a poll! :) I do think in my heart my preference is the old cut though! Do you like wonky OMCs or do you prefer the ones with more symmetric/crisp facets? This one is literally on fire in a way I’ve never seen before. The facets are so big but not necessarily super symmetrical.

Thanks for the input! I fluctuate between a 5-5.5 ring size. Here is a side by side of my original OMC (set) and this new one (unset). Lighting conditions aren’t the same but gets the idea across. I would set this one similarly to highlight the slightly longer side. It was pretty crazy how the prong placements on the original ring brought out the stone’s very slightly elongated shape!

Wow the shapes are similar! The former OMC was an N color, right?

Yes it was an N and this one is a K with strong fluoro. In person it faces up obviously whiter than the last stone - which it needs to since that was the reason I sent the other one back! This one also faces up slightly larger.

I have an oec and I would say the faceting is pretty symmetrical. But I still love me a wonky stone too in particular OMC‘s. To me OMC‘s lend themselves better to wonkiness than OECs do. Personal opinion and all that :) I just love old cuts in general!

Wow yes the new one looks so WHITE!

Hi @twosanguinehearts That is a big bright diamond! I love that it's a K with fluor. I probably why it looks so white. The crown is very lively. However, hope you don't my honest input, the area under the table doesn't seem as lively. Maybe it's the videos or the lighting, but in all the videos, under the table it seems kinda dead compared to the crown. And the faceting under the table seems kinda messy. This can't be cheap. I feel like it could find better for what you must be paying. Maybe it's really hard right now to much to choose from. Maybe you see a lot more fire that can be shown via video. I'm sorry. You can ignore me if I'm being a downer.
