Your really have to watch what you say to co-workers! There could be an element of jealous, but who cares cause you''ll be the talk of the office with your new ROCK!Date: 5/8/2006 1:32:35 PM

Thanks ladies!! Well I told one of my coworker/friends not to tell anyone over the weekend (there was an industry show I missed on Thurs/Fri to be in Texas instead!) about my upgrade because I had just told everyone here I was visiting friends ala my ''secret upgrade not '' plan ...first thing when I get in this morning, the owner of the company goes ''are you all upgraded''...THANKS coworker/friend!!! So of course like three other girls are all ''oh did you get a new diamond''...and the owner goes ''okay now that looks fake!'' and one of the gals said ''that''s not very nice'' and so the owner goes ''oh i''m just kidding, it looks beautiful and crystal clear''...
So the cat is out of the bag I guess...now I have to ream my friend out for opening her trap! GAH!
Well maybe it''s silly, but I had HOPED no one would notice it really because I don''t like the attention and the assumptions/judgements people make about purchases like this...we''ve talked about this topic on here before! I work with these gals and you all know how it is in an office with lots of women (we have literally 3 men in our office and about 20 women!). So oh well, hopefully no one else knows or will mention it and in a few weeks it will be old news that no one remembers.Date: 5/8/2006 1:42:40 PM

Also, I was really surprised my friend said anything as we always talk about going-on''s in the office and I know she keeps that stuff under wrap, so I am wondering what the heck happened here?!
Re: "heads" -- This has been my pet peeve since I started looking at e-rings before I got engaged in 1989 (yikes!). I think I''m just a "basket" girl at heart -- but again, it can''t just be plunked on, like you say, it has to be cast with the whole ring together as one piece and be integrated.Date: 5/8/2006 11:13:15 AM

Thanks everyone!! The new stone and my rings are currently happily humming away in the US this morning...now that I have a new stone I am obsessed with keeping it clean AT ALL TIMES. Wonder how long that will last!! hehe. It also feels funny to touch the table/top of the diamond and feel 6 prongs. I keep doing it. I''m sure that''s not great for thumbprints on the stone, hehee. I better keep cleaning it!
FFF it''s funny you mention the whole head thing because I do think that head styles are totally underwhelming many times. It''s funny, I have mentioned this before but people put all this thought into the settings meaning the ring part of the e-ring and then they plunk something like a 6 prong stuller or a 4 prong stuller on it. I think that all angles should be considered for viewing, not just top down. But I obviously did the same thing when we were shopping, we spent all this time figuring out the ring itself and then when they said what head do you want I said oh whatever that one is (like the jeweler''s wife''s ring) which was a 4 prong something or other...but looked more like a modified V prong than a stuller solstice. Anyway I got the stuller solstice and it was okay but I just never loved that side view though I had it for almost 4 years. It was not like I hated it, it just was MEH. So when this time came around to get a new head and possibly change it up, I jumped at the opportunity and am so happy with the change big time. So now it''s totally my mission to get people to start to consider HEADS when they are designing or looking into settings and rings. It''s an important component of the process.
As for how long til the next upgrade, HA HA well I guess my beloved hubby was teasing my Mom about my next upgrade while I was gone, and was telling her that when I have a boy child that I can have an upgrade again and then he said oh OKAY I guess she can for a girl too...(he''d love to have either but for joke purposes, he always talks about a boy child to carry on the name)....anyway so last nitehe was telling me about it and I could just laugh. So not only have I managed to get him from balking at the thought of an upgrade when/if a child comes, but then it went to okay if it was a boy child, and now it''s okay for a girl child too, and NOW he''s actually talking about it ON HIS OWN to members of my family. Since we aren''t going to have kids for oh about another 3-4 years IF we decide to have them....this just cracks me up at how far he is progressing with so little help of mine. Who knew?!?!? So who knows gals...maybe in another 5 years...I''ll be able to get that 3.29 or it''s close relative. In the meantime though I have other ''things'' on the list to tide me over...heheee.
KD, you put a smile on my face today! I think I''ve mentioned before (or was that just to my hubby??!!!) that our 20th anniversary is in three years and then I''ll have had this stone for 6 years, so it would be a good time to exercise my trade-in option with my jeweler. But, I''m sure I''ll go "a little bigger" (LOL) and quite honestly, I think rounds start looking a little "much" when they''ve reached a certain point in size. Truly, I have to say that while I loooooooooove oogling at all the ideal rounds here on PS, I want something a bit more "romantic/antique" like a cushion, OEC, OMC, or oval. I just don''t think I''m cut out for a round stone. I''m even open to an emerald or -- hope you''re all sitting down -- a stunning super-size marquise (GASP!). I''ve got the 3.29 ct/9.59 mm now, so I am sure in three years I will want to size up and you know what the pricing would be for an ideal round 4.5 cts. Sad thing is, if I want that I''d have to start searching NOW because it could realistically take me THREE years to find!!!Date: 5/8/2006 5:24:16 PM

Hi Mara! I can''t believe the NERVE of that coworker of yours! Very uncool to spill the beans like that. I hate unwanted attention from coworkers too, which is why I hide my hand during meetings and keep it in my pocket whenever we''re all milling around. Of course, it''d probably be easier for me to just leave the ring at home, but I can''t bear to be parted from my baby! I work with all women too but they''re a bunch of salty left-wing ex-newspaper reporters who couldn''t care less about diamonds, so fortunately I haven''t had to deal with any snarky comments about my ring. If anything, they just stare in disbelief and say nice things. God love ''em!
Headlight!!! So you''ve been scoping around, eh? Care to share? Are you in the market for an upgrade?
Yes, that size marquise could be considered a lethal weapon!!!Date: 5/8/2006 6:06:58 PM

Headlight, a 3-4ct marquise would be quite noticeableI also saw you were thinking of a cushion.....*this* would be my choice. Wouldn''t it be fun to take your time and start diamond shopping again?
haha mokey i was totally thinking that this morning, i don't think that 'it's so big it looks fake' is on the approved response list!!!Date: 5/8/2006 7:27:08 PM

Just get your 'response to Mara's upgrade' cards together and pass them out at the next office meeting.
