The Official TTC Thread!

Thanks CDT! I just scheduled my first appointment and I''m going in on the 6th and I get to have a dating ultrasound since my last real AFF was in August! I told them I''m charting and my chart puts me at 10dpo, but that the test came up positive so fast that I''m thinking maybe it''s off a bit. Yay for getting an ultrasound!

Thanks feb!

WOW Robbie...that''s amazing!!! Congratulations!!!

Wishing you a happy and healthy nine months!!!

Sabine - I''m sorry AFF reared her ugly face. Sometimes she just doesn''t take a hint does she? Here''s hoping for a BFP next go around!

3 DPO here and I''ve had a headache since yesterday and felt nauseous this morning. It''s rare that I ever get a headache for more than a day so, not sure if this means anything...maybe it''s just a stress headache? Whatever it is, it''s sooooo not fun! I also had a nice rise in temp this morning which is good. Anyway, trying not to read to much into all the signs, but it''s really hard not to.
31.gif

Robbie - congrats! I''m wondering if you''re a coupole days farther along than you think, and might even be 14dpo? You had that one huge dip that might have been an ovulatory dip too. I''ll be interested to see what the dating ultrasound shows. Of course you did have EWCM after that. I can''t remember what your post-O temps were last cycle.

Robbie congrats and lovely chart! It is possible that you O'd a couple days earlier and had a delayed rise, since you typically have a couple days fertile CF post-O, but I'd just stick with that O day no matter what the u/s says. The range of error for a dating u/s is ONE WEEK. Yup, you read correctly. Charting will be much more accurate. If you had an early implantation at 3-5 days there would be more than enough hcg now at 10 dpo to get a bfp! Especially if this pregnancy has lots of hcg (health healthy!!)... I got mine at 11 dpo, so 10dpo is easly but not odd. I think it's a great sign that you got a strong positive so early since it suggests nice high hcg and last time you hcg really never got off the ground, so yippeee
36.gif
re: implantation dip: from what I read there is nothing that occurrs hormonally at implantation that would affect temps so there is no reason that it would affect your temp. As I mentioned, it is just chance whether or not the dip happenes around the time you implant or not. Yours was at 9dpo, and since you got a strong bfp today its impossible that was implantation (wouldn't be enough time for hcg to rise for those tests!). I'm just so happy for you!

cdt: morning sickness doesn't kick in for most women until 5-8 weeks or later. You are still early to lament its lack!

Now you tempted the m/s gods and you will get it big time!

SUCH GREAT NEWS!!!!

Thanks, blushing!

Drk, I was wondering the same thing. My post-O temps are usually 97.5 and up. This coverline was a bit higher than normal.

DD, I''m guessing it doesn''t really matter what I say since they''ll decide whatever they think my O date is. That''s crazy that it can be off by as much as a week. I thought early ultrasounds were supposed to be very accurate. Oh well, I''m just excited that I won''t have to wait until the anatomy scan to see baby uncle sam
1.gif
. Every time I say/type that I picture our baby being born with a beard and one of those really tall stars and stripes hats, lol. I knew it was possible to get a bfp this early, I just figured that if I did, it would be faint. I''m hoping it''s due to strong hcg too! Ok, here''s my question of the day for you. I did some research and it seems that omega-3''s can help with just about everything from heart health (for me) to implantation to brain development (for baby uncle sam). Right after O we bought a bunch of salmon and had it for a few days straight. That got a bit monotonous as well as expensive so I bought fish oil pills. It says that it contains sardines, anchovies and soy. I didn''t notice the soy until after I''d bought it. I did some research (if you can call googling soy and pregnancy research) and it seems like soy isn''t necessarily something you''d want to be taking every day while you''re pregnant, but the bottle doesn''t say how much soy is in each pill. So, what do you know about soy and do the risks of taking it during pregnancy outweigh the benefits of the omega-3''s? I asked the doctor''s office when I called to schedule my appointment and they said it''s fine, but I can''t really seem to find info from any reliable sites.

Thanks, mela!!!

OMG Robbie!!! Yay, you're one fertile chica!!! Major sticky vibes for you! Do you think that you're going to start telling people this month like last time, or will you wait a bit?

Sabine: bummer than AF came, but I think you'll have bunch better chances next month when your DH is home.

I'm off to work. Catch up with you gals later!

ETA: Robbie, I just saw your post. Do you have the Nature Made fish oil? I have been taking those too for about 6 months since the brand is highly-rated for being free of mercury, and I saw the soy thing too. I can't imagine how much soy is really in them because they're pretty small and they're not "soy pills" but I would be interested if you find out any more info.

congratulations robbie

What wonderful news!!!

Okay, what the heck? I''ve been feeling nauseated this morning, and now I just threw up like 5 times in a row. I didn''t have anything in my stomach, so it was just this acidic orange liquid. Sorry for the gross image.

If I had any hope this was morning sickness I''d be ELATED, but it''s way too early for that. My DH was horrified seeing my throw up, but now he''s joking that it''s "implanation sickness." I hope that I''m not getting sick.

Thanks Peony, Lulu and LovesVintage!

Peony, mine are the Spring Valley brand. It doesn''t say anything about mercury on it, but it uses sardines and anchovies which I think are supposed to be very low in mercury anyway. I''m jealous if yours are pretty small. Mine are freakin horse pills! At least they taste ok and not fishy.

This soon it is probably not true m/s, but barfing was what tipped Indy off that she might be preggo! It can happen early. ETA barfing tip from a gal with a sensitive stomach (can't drink, need drugs to fly etc

): if you think you are going to hurl, drink a glass of water or two. It is much easier and much less unpleasant to hurl water than nothing at all, and it may help you stay hydrated.

Re: the soy issue -- guh! I''d love to hear more about this. I just googled soy and pregnacy, and the first link I read said that soy could be linked to infertility, so I stopped reading!! I eat some form of soy almost every day. I''m going to have to find some veggie-friendly pregnancy sites now. All of this information can really make a girl crazy, as I''m sure you all already know.

Not sure how much soy is actually in those fish oil pills you have, Robbie. A lot of times, I think companies just advertise their products as containing soy because people think it''s good for them, so it''s used as a way of marketing, even if the product only contains a negligible amount. Still, you''d probably worry less if you just got some fish oil pills, sans the soy.

I eat soy all the time and DH drinks soy milk daily. No problems here! I think you have to mainline it to have that effect... so no more mainlining soy LV!

Yes, I need to learn not to overreact everytime I read something new. I just did some more reading, and it seems that if I do not have a known fertility issue, then I don''t need to make any adjustments right now. Ok, panic over. Back to keeping it real!

Wow, there is so much going on on this thread this morning!

Sabine, I''m sorry that AF showed up. That sucks in a big way. Here''s to next time!

Welcome, LV. Glad to have another "old" lady on the board.

I''m 35 too and I sooo envy all the young whipper snappers around here! I also had a genetic screening blood test before TTC. Both DH and I are half Jewish, which the dr. considered borderline, but the other half of me is French-Canadian, which is apparently another population that is prone to genetic diseases. Anyway, everything checked out fine, but the diseases described in the pamphlet they gave me are very scary. She had me test for whatever my insurance would cover and luckily my insurance told me they''d cover whatever my dr. determined necessary. How often does that happen?

Dreamer - yet another awesome and detailed explanation, thank you! I always assumed the temp dip was implantation-related. I think I conveniently ignored what I learned on FF.

I''m sorry this wasn''t your month Sabine. Heres hoping for next month for you.

Peony, I haven''t been puking, but I''ve definitely been feeling pukey for the last week or so. I hope it''s super early morning sickness for you! We decided last time that we''ll wait to tell everyone until we''re out of the first trimester. It''s perfect timing because I''ll enter the second trimester on 12/20, just before Hanukkah and Christmas!

Robbie, that sounds like a good plan! We weren't planning to tell anyone until after 12 weeks too. Originally I thought that I could tell my mom at Thanksgiving (we live far away) if I got pregnant on our first try in August, but that didn't happen. If I don't get a BFP this month, I won't even be pregnant by Thankgiving. Even though it hasn't been that long, the changing of the seasons from super hot to freezing during that time has been hard.

Unfortunately we told a lot of people we were trying since they kept asking us if we wanted to have kids soon. Everyone knows that we just love kids, so they weren't suprised. But they haven't been shy AT ALL about asking me if we're pregnant. Seriously, these people don't seem to know anything about getting pregnant and they're driving me crazy. This one girl asked me at a housewarming party really loudly if I was pregnant yet, and I told her no. The next week I saw her at another event, and she asked if I'd had any luck since last week. WTF? A lot of my friends tell me that I'm similar to Charlotte from SATC since I'm pretty idealistic about love, Jewish, have a super nice husband who's similar to Harry in personality, and actually look somewhat like her. Now some people are saying, "wow, you really are like Charlotte since you're having so much trouble getting pregnant." I have tried to explain to them that it takes a few months, and they seemed to understand but haven't changed their behavior. Every time I call this one friend, she says, "oh my God, you're calling to tell me you're pregnant" the moment she picks up. And I've had to call her a lot lately because we're planning some wedding stuff for a friend.

And then there are those people who are convinced that I'm in the first trimester and just not telling anyone because it's traditional to wait until 12 weeks. Last month when I had my period I mentioned to a coworker that I was feeling sleepy, and she said, "don't worry, I was really tired too during my first trimester." She not only got pregnant her first try with both of her kids, but she only had sex once each cycle. The first time was the day after her period ended when she thought you couldn't get pregnant (that kid was an accident). The second time was one random day when her DH finally agreed to have a second child, because according to her "he'd only agree once so I decided that I would HAVE to get pregnant that night."

Anyway, sorry for the rant! I'm really happy for you!!! And good luck to everyone else, of course!!

Peony,

I''m sorry that you are having to deal with insensitive and ignorant people. I''ll refrain from calling them idiots because they may be your friends.
17.gif
I''m guessing the people who say these assanine things have never been pregnant themselves? Have you tried telling them, "when I''m pregnant I''ll let you know"? I also have a lot of people in my life asking b/c they know we want to have kids. Luckily they have all been there themselves and have some understanding of what it''s like. I confess that before we started trying I didn''t fully grasp what it''s like. p.s., I hope you feel better and that this is baby-related puking!

Robbie - what great timing to tell your family!

Congrats, Robbie!! That''s amazing...I''m sending you lots of sticky vibes!

drk- you''ve been in my thoughts. I hope your betas continue to rise, you are a trooper!

Sabine - sorry for CD1.

Robbie - I think the early ultrasounds are more accurate for dating than 7 days. Very early on the little thing is so small it''s hard to measure accurately anyhow. One ob/gyn online said it''s accurate to +/- 3 days when done at 7-8 weeks. I''m sure a couple days here or there don''t really matter anyhow. Heck, there''s a three week stretch of being considered full term at the end anyhow, and another week of being post-dates before most would consider inducing. A couple days here or there don''t really matter.
Also re omega-3 oils, I have a bottle of pregnancy omega-3s bought cheap at a Canadian Walmart. I think they only real pg thing about it is that it''s low in mercury. Or course I''m sure the rest of them aren''t high in mercury either, and they probably just charge a slight premium to put pregnancy on the label. I''m sure you''re fine with yours.

Blushing - hope the headache goes away soon...

Peony - hope the puking disappears soon! Nothing worse than retching. Had the pleasure of doing that a couple weeks back after what I guess must have been bad sushi. It was not fun to have my gut roiling all night and then wake up nauseated a couple times before finally throwing up and getting some relief.

Festy and LV - well, I''m an old lady too - 34 in 1 month. I envy all the young and fertile whippersnappers around here. I appear to be cursed by my age and my genes, though hopefully that has all turned around now with this BFP. I sure hope i see a nice little gestational sac where it''s supposed to be on my ultrasound tomorrow morning.

This does ring a bell... the margin of error increases with gestation I guess as natural genetic variation in size becomes more influential.

Yup. If you need a dating u/s it''s best to do it sooner rather than later. It gets MUCH less accurate after about 10 weeks if I remember correctly...

Peony, people can be so obnoxious! Ugh, sorry you have to deal with that!

Am, thanks for the vibes!

DrK, DD and Neat, good thing I'll only be 5w5d at my dating u/s then!

ETA: Hmmm, I guess I could be 6w2d too and that's why I'm getting one in the first place, LOL.

Congratulations, Robbie!

That's very early, sometimes they can't even see anything at all if you are only 5w5d! They may want to do a follow-up a week later, so do't worry if that's what happens...

DrK - I totally forgot to congratulate you on your rising Beta''s! And I''m glad you''re sticking around here. You should stay as long as you want...
As for the age thing, well, I don''t feel old!
