DrK, DD and Neat, good thing I''ll only be 5w5d at my dating u/s then!

ETA: Hmmm, I guess I could be 6w2d too and that''s why I''m getting one in the first place, LOL.

That''s very early, sometimes they can''t even see anything at all if you are only 5w5d! They may want to do a follow-up a week later, so do''t worry if that''s what happens...

I was thinking the same thing. DON''T freak out if there is no HB that early.

Thanks for the warm welcome (and the book recs), everyone!

Mela--I LOVE the name Haven, we definitely plan on naming somebody Haven, but we''re not sure if we like it better for a boy or a girl, yet.

As for my avatar, that''s our little guy Geddy right after an emergency surgery. Poor baby had to wear that e-collar for a long time and he hated it. The ONLY good thing that came out of that thing was this picture!

Robbie--It''s so exciting for me to read about your pregnancy. I joined the BWW forum right when you were planning your wedding so I feel like I''ve been here for your wedding and now for the start of your family!

Don''t worry, I know it''s early. I searched the ultrasounds on ff for ones that were less than 6 weeks and it seems like we should at least be able to see a sac at that point. I''m ok with going in for another later. They actually asked me if I''d rather have an appointment on the 4th or 6th. I picked the 6th because it wouldn''t have been my doctor on the 4th, but it can''t hurt that I''ll be a bit farther along too.

Awe, Haven, isn''t amazing how much we''ve all gone through together? I get a little emotional thinking about it. I wish there was some type of a national pricescope convention where we could all get together.

Welcome, Haven! Glad to have you.

3 DPO here and I've had a headache since yesterday and felt nauseous this morning. It's rare that I ever get a headache for more than a day so, not sure if this means anything...maybe it's just a stress headache? Whatever it is, it's sooooo not fun! I also had a nice rise in temp this morning which is good. Anyway, trying not to read to much into all the signs, but it's really hard not to.

I'm hear you, blushing! I currently have a headache and have since yesterday. It was really bad yesterday afternoon. I also feel like I'm burning up. Ugh, I hope I'm not getting sick.

2 DPO (CD 18)

DrK, good luck at your next blood draw!!

Festy, these people definitely haven't been pregnant before. They're all pretty smart people with graduate degrees, but I guess that they don't know much about fertility. In school one learns how NOT to get pregnant via sex ed, but there's no talk of how to actually do it.
2.gif
I keep trying to remind myself that they're asking me because they care about me and it's normal to ask about a friend's life. In some ways it hurts, but then again if they didn't know then I couldn't talk about it at all. Feeling like it's a "secret" might actually make it worse.

I definitely think that popular culture/media makes it seem like getting pregnant is SO easy, with recent movies like Juno and Knocked Up. Heck, both DH and I were conceived on the first try. Actually, I was an accident after one night of unprotected sex; my parents weren't even dating.

Robbie, can you tell me how you made your cool flashing avatar? I think that would be fun to make.

Peony, I used Photoshop. I followed the directions on this site: http://www.wikihow.com/Create-Animated-Gifs-Using-Photoshop-Cs3

ETA: DH and I are being Juno and Pauly Bleeker for Halloween. We're adding to the stereotype

When I was pregnant with my twins I had some spotting at around 6 weeks pregnant. I went to my doctor who referred me to the early pregnancy unit at the hospital. I had severe pain in my side and there was talk of it being an ectopic pregnancy. On the first day they took my blood to check my pregnancy hormone levels (sorry I don''t know the technical words yet!). The next morning they took more blood and the levels had increased. They took me in for a scan and told me they could see two sacs so I was expecting twins. They showed me a further sac which was empty. Can you believe it could have been triplets???

Holy cow. I think I''d freak out if they found 3. Heck, I''ll freak out if they find 2!

Lol! I actually remember being very cross with Gary on the way home. It was a huge shock but I got used to it very quickly. Apart from the whole stroller thing.. there is nothing nice for twin babies!

Robbie, congrats, I am wishing you a healthy pregnancy.

Haven, welcome. DH and I are in same same position you are I think, not charting or anything, but off BC and hoping to conceive. However, only 6 weeks in I am getting impatient so I may be on the charting bandwagon soon!

I am on CD 36, with still no AF in sight. Prior to starting BC, I always had clock-work like 28 day cycles. This is my first full cycle off of BC, so I am hoping it is a fluke. To be fair, that was 10 years ago so a lot could have changed. As I have posted before, DH and I were not planning on charting or anything, but I may reconsider if I am not going to be able to predict when I am ovulating just based on cycle length. I am not desperate to be pregnant immediately, but I am hoping it won''t take 6+ months either. Oh, I also did take a test, so I know I am not pregnant.

Just wanted to pop in and give a BIG FAT CONGRATS to our gal Robbie! I''m sending you good & sticky vibes!

Welcome, LV. Glad to have another ''old'' lady on the board.

I''m 35 too and I sooo envy all the young whipper snappers around here!
I''ve got ya beat- I''m 37! But, i''m the boring one around here as i''m the "casual TTCer" of the group. I chart very sporadically- need to get with the program...

Hubby and I are thinking about taking one step toward TTC--we might not actively try yet, but just stop using contraception. SO, I figured I'd pop in here and see what everyone's talking about, and you know what?
I DON'T UNDERSTAND A WORD THAT ANY OF YOU ARE SAYING!
2.gif

I guess I have a lot to learn.

Anyway, I've enjoyed reading some of your stories.

Robbie--I'm so sorry to hear the sad news. I hope there's something to celebrate coming soon.
Hiya, Haven! DH and I are also in the same place... but we need to stop THINKING about it and get cracking soon at actual TTC. We're taking very very tiny baby steps and hope to make the leap next Spring. I've learned a TON from the helpful gals here.

Yey! Someone my age!!!

Robbie - my doc is having me come in for a transvag scan tomorrow morning at 5w1d (beta ought to be over 1200 by then, I hope with all my might). She''s expecting to see a gestational sac. She said by the end of the weekend (ie 5w5d), she generally sees a heartbeat with the transvag scan. Abdominally, it can take a bit longer to see things. I bet you''ll have a pretty good chance of seeing a HB at your scan.

So far I''ve had basically brown bleeding today. I sure hope this is a good sign, and that the not-so-lovely bleeding is coming to an end now...

Kate

November, I was really regular before going on the pill, and my first month off the pill I had a 39 day cycle, and my second month I had a 35 day cycle, so I''m guessing it can mess with things a bit. I was keeping track both months, and both times, it was longer before ovulation, and after ovulation it was still regular.

Drk, good luck tomorrow. Thinking high beta numbers for you! What exactly is a transvag. scan if you don''t mind me asking? And yay for the spotting not being as much and being brown!

I should have known I''d jinx myself by saying things were turning brown... I''m back to bright red again. Grr. Though it usually seems to get worse in the evenings.

Transvag = transvaginal scan (with a lovely long thin probe that they cover with a condom to do the scan).

Good luck with your scan drk. They aren''t the most glamorous of procedures but they are the best for early pregnancy.

Thanks, November! BC can definitely mess with your cycle and does for many women.

Thanks, Charger!

DrK, thanks for the info! Now I''m really excited that there''s actually a chance we''ll see a heartbeat! I just assumed it would be a trans-vag u/s. Would they try an abdominal one so early? Good luck with your u/s tomorrow! I hope they can put your mind at ease about the spotting!

My friend had one of the transvag types and said it was really strange! LOL! She said something about the shape size makes it feel very... personal

It does feel weird... and it made me feel like I needed to go for a wee....

I had one in college when my doctor thought I might have PCOS. He''d told me he was going to do an ultrasound and the only kind I''d ever heard of was the abdominal. When he pulled out the wand thing I was like, uh, where is that going??? Ha.

Congrats Robbie!!!

I have a close jerkstore friend. i don''t know my edd yet, but its sometime in late june. i go to the doctor next week...tuesday...and i''ve had that wand up my whoohaa and its very awkward to say the least.
20.gif
when i had it i actually said...wow thats what rolls over my stomach...and then the dr. said no--in your vagina-
23.gif
--i must have looked shocked because he told me to relax because it was a lot thinner than what got me in that chair in the first place

so it wouldnt hurt.

i''ve just been feeling very tired and my boobs are a full size larger---i always wanted bigger boobs,

but they are getting in my way...besides they hurt a lot now.

Haha. I had to chime in about the wand. My mother, who has a charming New Zealand accent, refers to the wand as the big *ahem* "richard" and I put that in quotes as to not offend anyone. ;-) Even now when we talk about her appointments she refers to it as the big "word that rhymes with sick" Haha. . . oh my Mum.

More LOLing! cello, are you joining us? Did I miss your post?

hahaha...your mom sounds like my grandmother....she had a gyn appt and my mom(a nurse) took her. in the room while she was waiting my grandma had her slip thing open and my mom saw her underwear--my mom said she was wearing a purple lace THONG!!! at 74!!! my mom was mortified even at her age, but my g-ma said that she needed to be "hip" and the dr. might make fun of her for granny panties (which my mom wears). she also said she always wears them because they are comfy and don''t leave pants lines...lol gotta love crazy grannies

Wow, Robbie, a big CONGRATS!! Yay for being a jerkstore again so soon

Hopefully the high HCG levels are your little bean saying he''s here for good this time! Yay!

I started charting today and it wasn''t as difficult as I thought it would be. Took temp, logged into FF and it was very straightforward! I know its not going to happen for ages but I want to know exactly whats going on so we stand a better chance.

I had my hormone levels checked back in Febuary. I just checked what they were... FSH - 7.7 and LH - 3.9 The tests were done on day 3.

Can anyone tell me what this means in relation to whether I could conceive or not.

Thank you
