The Official TTC Thread!

Gosh, all this wand talk. I just (stupidly, perhaps) assumed all ultrasounds were the ones where they slap that jelly stuff on your belly and roll the big plastic thing around, looking for the baby. Hmph. I don''t know if I want to see my baby *that* bad!

**
Today''s 9DPO. Whoo hoo! Tomorrow I''ll be in the double digits.
9.gif
That means I''ll be at my testing day in NO time flat! It really, really does go faster when you have a cycle less than 40 days, let me tell you!

I''ve still not bought the FRER tests with that coupon, but I''m tempted to today, but know I *should* wait until Saturday, to test on Sunday. That would be 13 DPO.

Last cycle at 9 DPO I was insane with thoughts, wonder, worry, anxiety. Funny. This cycle, I''m hopeful, but grounded. I''m not searching every time I cough and wondering if it''s a pregnancy sign. It feels better this way. I hope I can keep it up.

**
Also, I''ve been meaning to ask. I know that I''ve read on here and on the preggo thread that deli meats aren''t good for a pregnant woman, but does that mean ANY processed food, or just meat? I want to know now so I can be sure that when we go grocery shopping, I''m thinking ahead. We only go a couple times a month (aside from fruits and veggies and milk, things like that).

**
Sabine,

I''m sorry that your period came along. What a brat! I know the excitement of wanting to share pregnancy with a dear friend, so I''m hoping that you and Robbie will end up knocked up during the same period of time. Luckily, Robbie''s gonna be a preggo for a *long* time, so you have the time to get knocked up yourself!

**
Haven,

Where did the name Geddy come from? I''m always curious over the whereabouts of doggie and kitty names.

**
Ebree and Blushing,

I never noticed this before charting, but I do have headaches right before I ovulate and then more often in the last two weeks of the cycle than in the beginning. Hormones! Makes sense, though... Paul never gets headaches and swears it''s caused by hormones. Then I started looking around at work. Mostly women who have headaches or get migraines from the florescent lighting.

**
Drk,

I hope your scan shows a precious little tiny in there, going strong!!

Can''t wait for the update!

My Mum is a trip. Thats for sure. NYC that''s so funny about your grandma! My Mum calls thongs "the a$$less pants" Haha. I think she''ll be that 74 year old one day for sure. :-)

Congrats to Robbie. Honey, i''m hoping that this little bean sticks and brings you a lifetime of joy :-)

Ebree, i''m here. :-) DH and I have decided to stop avoiding. So, no more charting to avoid, no more barrier methods during ovulation, etc. We''re not charting to find the O and catch the egg either though. We''re trying to let nature take it''s course.

Well, either DH really wants a baby, or the uninhibited portion of our sex life makes him really happy because this crazy man has been all over me since we had our talk. I said "Me, you, and baby. . . " in a conversation yesterday when we were talking about something and he got this super-goofy smile on his face. Cutest thing I''ve ever seen. Bless his cotton socks.

Fisher, the no lunchmeat thing is because of the risk of illness from listeria, which is something like 20 times more common in pregnant women because of their weakened immune system. It is still quite rare, but most of the time it causes fetal death. In this same category is unpasturized dairy products, which can harbor the bacteria.

As for processed foods in general, I think they're good to limit most of the time--pregnant or not--but then again I don't like how most of them taste anyway.

I am SO excited that you're testing soon!! We are reversed from last time. I had a 35-day cycle last time, and this one is looking to be about 50 days, yikes.

Robbie, that's a cute idea for a costume. You should post a pic after Halloween! Is your DH going to wear super short gym shorts?
2.gif

That's cute that everyone likes the name Haven. I read in my college alum magazine that a couple who met at my uni named their baby Haven since it's located in New Haven. Another couple gave their kids the initials CCL after the library on campus they met in. Gosh, I can't wait to nail down some baby names!! We already have a girl's name, but we're waiting to nail down a boy's until I get a BFP.

Thanks, NYCsparkle! My boobs have grown a bit already too. Last time I gained 2 cup sizes in the week that I knew I was pregnant. I put on a bit of weight during that week (kept having dessert for 2
17.gif
) and the weeks after so they only went down 1 size after the miscarriage. I hope they don''t grow too much more. I''m up about 1/2 a cup size right now. Good luck with your appointment! I can''t believe your grandmother wears thongs! That''s crazy! Though, I wonder what my grandmother wore back in her day. Apparently she was a bra model at one point! By the time I knew her, her parkinsons was pretty bad though.

Cello, your mom sounds hysterical! Good luck with letting things take their course! It sounds like your DH is pretty excited
1.gif
.

Thanks, sunkist! I hope that''s what it means too :).

Maisie, I was charting for almost a year before we started trying and it definitely helped me to know what was going on. I''m not sure what your levels should be. Did they give you a printout? Printouts usually have the range of what it should be right by your results.

Fisher, I think everyone assumes it''s the kind you see on tv until you have to get the trans-vag one. I can''t believe you''re holding out til 13dpo to test! You''re way stronger than I am. I forget, how long is your lp?

I think deli meats carry a risk because of how they''re prepared. I don''t think it''s all processed food, but I would guess that anything that''s been processed has a higher risk of being contaminated than something that''s not processed. You''re actually allowed to eat deli meats if you heat them to steaming.

Peony, I went out and bought DH a pair of XL women''s soffe shorts yesterday. They are hysterical on him! Today I have to run out and get him a pair of tighty whities since he can''t wear boxers with them. I''ll post a pic after wear them. The party we''re going to is actually this Saturday since my sister-in-law is going to be in town. We have no names nailed down. DH seems to have finally given up on Scarlett though. Woohoo! I''m hoping we''ll eventually be able to come up with names that we both love though.

I didn''t get a print out when I got my results Robbie. We don''t get stuff like that in the UK. They just tell us the results and say whether we need to see the doctor or not. In my case I was just told "You aren''t in the menopause"..... I had to push to find out the levels!

I have looked online and found a site which tells you what your levels should be and mine are within normal for LH (anything less than 7 is classed as normal)... and my FSH is within the Good range..

Not bad odds then!!

Hey Everyone!

Been out of town a few days and DH made me "unplug". Wow a lot has happened since then!

Robbie--Congrats to you jerkstore! Sending tons or sticky dust your way. I hope you have a very healthy and happy 9 mos!

Sabine--Sorry AFF showed her ugly face.

Maisie-Welcome! I'm sure you will learn alot about charting and your body! I love how much I've learned hanging around here and from FF.

Cello--Welcome also! I hope you stay here is very short.

Festy- Hey cycle buddy! Glad to have someone else in the 2WW with me!

I'm sure I missed a few people...will catch up soon!

CD18...

Well it''s CD18 for me...

I''m hoping I O''d yesterday. I had a temp spike today so hopefully it will continue and not be some sort of fake out. If I did O yesterday that would be great because I O''d on CD17 last month. Having a pretty regular O day/pattern would be so helpful. I''ve attached my chart in case anyone is interested and will post again after (if) I get crosshairs in a few days.

Fisher--My hubby named him Geddy after Geddy Lee from Rush. He''s a huge Rush fan; to be honest I had never really listened to them until I met my hubby.

I''m still trying to keep up with everyone and learn all the lingo at the same time. I figure at this rate I''ll be in the know when we start to actively TTC.

Robbie, that is super cute! I think Soffe shorts are perfect! Gold?

Also, I was wondering whether you every had any longer-than-normal cycles during the year that you charted? Still trying to figure out my current one.

They ranged from 26-35 days. Normal for me is right around 30. Before I was charting I used to keep track of cycle length. Every now and then I'd get a long or short one.

ETA: They're not the exact same color as in the movie. They're more yellow than gold, but it was all they had at Kohls and they were on sale for less than $3, so they're close enough!

Hmm, now I kind of wish I''d gone of the pill earlier so I could see what my normal cycles were like. Just about everything I read said that fertility was the same after three months off the pill, which is what I was going by, but it would be nice to have that extra bit of information.

I read that there can be minor impairments to fertility (poor CF, longish cycles, anovulation) for up to 6 months, and then ater 6 months there was no difference at all.

Hey DD! Yeah, I had heard the 3-6 months figure on some sites, but I couldn't find any specific studies that showed that closer to 6 months was typical. I guess that FF also said that it's an age-moderated effect, and it's smaller for women under 30.

Here were the two articles that I had bookmarked, plus I looked at some of DH's ob/gyn textbooks:

http://www.webmd.com/sex/birth-control/news/20020827/birth-control-pills-may-aid-fertility

http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=81003

It seems like one of those things that had been talked about for a long time as being a possibility, but the recent studies with better designs seem to have disputed it for most women. The good news is that the first three cycles I was off the pill I had a very classic, clear thermal shift and a two-week luteal cycle with an implantation dip, so I'm REALLY hoping that meant that I'm working okay. I stopped 5 months ago, so if there was an effect I hope that it's gone or just about gone. The half-life of bc is measure in hours, so it just doesn't seem like there could be a delayed effect. Right now my theory that this month's wacko cycle was due to having a bad cold near the beginning. *crosses fingers*

Also, one of the interesting things about the second study is that they showed that the median time for getting pregnant is 3 months. I''d always heard 6 months was the mean, but of course that must take into account women who take years to get pregnant, even though they''re a few standard deviations from the mean.

The news that half of us could be pregnant within 3 months of trying was encouraging to me.

I got crosshairs! So excited...

K...can anyone tell me how to post my chart?

Festy-- YAY for crosshairs!! You are my cycle buddy but I think you O'd a few days before me. I always right click the chart and save to my computer. Then I have to convert it to a jpeg because it always automatically saves as a btmp. Then attach to your post but make sure and give it a unique name.

Thanks, Inluv! Great to have you back, btw. Hoping you O''d yesterday too, cuz your BDing will have been well timed!

Hm, I''ll have to wait til I get home to post my chart...not crazy about the idea of saving my fertility chart to my work computer!

Let''s try it
I know you are lamenting missing the dats leading up to O, but you can indeed get preggers from DTD on O-day, so it is possible!

Nice chart Festy! I know I always get so excited to see crosshairs...now the waiting begins! How long do you think you''ll hold on to POAS?

Oh wow, that is QUITE the rise! Yay!! I never get rises like that, just a very slow one over a period of 5 days or so.

Hey Gals!
35.gif
Not much going on today - 4 DPO. I got another temp rise, but other than that, just sitt'n pretty.
9.gif
Since I have no news to report and everyone is posting their charts, I thought I'd post mine.

Things to note - I was in San Fran from Oct. 1st to Oct 4th and didn't temp at all. Also, DH was in South Carolina from Oct. 12th to Oct. 15th. Finally, I was sick the beginning of my cycle.

Festy also had a slower rise pattern, but had a strong ovulation dip (from an estrogen spike) the day of O, so it looks like a large rise. The actual increase in temps pre-to-post-O is about 2/10th of a degree.

Hey blushing if you use FAM does you O-date move ahead one day and the cover line move up to 96.9? Just curious.

Wow. So many new faces!

Welcome Haven, Cello, Maisie, iwanna, loves vintage, and anyone else I've missed.

Congrats Robbie! Many many super sticky vibes your way. And then, a few more for good measure!

Dr.K - Hope all is well and many super sticky vibes headed your way as well!

Haven & Masie - If you look on page four of this thread you'll find a whole list of abbreviations. I found it helpful back in the day.

Sabine - Onward and upward! But it stinks that AFF showed up. Feh. Meh.

InLuv - Hope your temps stay high!!

Fisher - Good luck when you POAS.

Hope everyone else out there is doing well.

As for me. Got my crosshairs today! O'd on Sunday. 3DPO. Not feeling much. We had guests (and it was much fun) but we didn't DTD as much as I'd like, though we did hit O day. So we shall see.

I think it is interesting that this is the earliest I've ever O'd...CD14. How average of me, no?

Festy - We are total cycle buddies. O'd on Sunday...so good luck to you! Ebree, are you a cycle buddy as well?

ETA - BB - Looks like we are darn near cycle buddies as well. Your chart looks great!

cd17, 3dpo.

No it doesn''t....not sure why the coverline is so low this month. Usually it hovers around 96.9 or 97.0 for me.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! It''s interesting what you say, Dreamer, because I actually think I O''d the night of CD 14, one day before FF says I did. At least that''s when the O pain was strongest. I know that O pain doesn''t necessarily coincide with the *moment* the egg is released, however. Anyway, we didn''t DTD til the evening of CD15, so I''m not holding out a ton of hope. But thanks for the encouragement!

InLuv, no PingOAS for me this month, unless AF is late, which she hardly ever is. Also, we have no sticks in the house and I''m not allowed to buy any! That means I''ll be encouraging all my chart buddies to do it instead. Hehe, I can''t wait!

Blushing, I wondered the same thing about your chart...

Does anyone else play the chart interpretation game on FF multiple times per day? Just wondering, cuz I don''t.

Hey Lysser, we are almost identical twins! Good luck to ya!
