Everyone knows a 1.5 G is worth many times what a 2.3 I is worth.

I am visiting CA in the new year... perhaps the 2.3ct O will be a really nice gift for me coming over to the lands of opportunity?
OR>....I could trade you with a 1ct E colour generic asscher and because i am a nice guy, i will throw in my carre full eternity as well... a total of 4.45ct. trading that for a 2.3ct... that would be the best trade in... compared to Kenny's 1.5 G!!!

Finally my mouth has been on the floor since I started reading this thread and now the I VS2 all zeros. So relieved and excited. What is the final carat weight. This process is so amazing and thank you all so much for sharing it with us. Such a treat.

I'll take that back, b/c for the stone to have received all zeros it must also grade D IF ... The finished weight is 2.30ct.

Re polishing the feather out before reaching down to the 2 carat mark, would an I VS1 or VVS2/VVS1 not make a more expensive diamond in 2 carat,2.10 carat than the resulting I 2.30 VS2? therefore more money for vendor and diamond cutter too.

Hi friends,

This image shows the beginning of the cutting process on the pavilion side of Octavia.
This section is the most critical. you can clearly notice Octavia is starting to get more of a symmetry look and feel. but we are still in the balancing stage.
At this stage we were gently cutting Diamond material while taking account the feather (circled) depth which surprised us.
We focused on balancing Octavia while minimizing the feather depth and trying to stay within our initial planning.

What does minimize feather depth mean?
Do you avoid polishing close to the feather so the feather doesn't reach the final surface, or try to polish the feather completely away?

Meaning how deep it reaches within the material itself.
The objective in this specific case was to minimize its size as much as possible while staying within our original estimated cutting plans.
The position of the feather was in favorable visual location (e.g. after completion its hardly noticeable with a loupe looking at its face up position).
With some creative planning, we could have probably polished the feather out before reaching the 2 carat mark.
