Things you hate to clean

CJ--Subway tiles are just tiles but they''re shaped more like bricks. I''ll post a picture, though I''m not sure how clearly you can see the tiles.

I don''t know why, but I cannot keep the grout clean. It is so irritating.

Windows. We have A LOT of them and they''re tall and hard to get clean. I suck at cleaning windows.

Floors. I never get them to look the way I want when they dry.

I've got another one. I hate to clean the driveway and the front walk when it snows. Just when much of it had melted - here we go again!

Generally I love cleaning. I find it very relaxing and I love the the way it feels when everything is done. A few things I don''t like cleaning are : the shower, the windows because they always streak, bedsheets, the fridge. For some reason. I like scrubbing the toilet and sinks and I like ironing.

Thanks, Haven...as far as the grout, it''s not you, it''s the grout! We can fly to the moon but we can''t make grout that doesn''t absorb dirt/soap scum/whatever. So no matter how white your tiles are, the grout around them makes the bathroom seems less than sparkling clean.

I love your home, by the way...your style is very much like DH''s and mine, but yours is much more "finished."

Did you do all the decorating and purchasing furniture yourself?

1. The George Foreman grill (even though the plates are detachable). It''s just so hard to get into the little crevices.

2. The window blinds. They get so dusty, and we don''t have a special blind-cleaning brush so I improvise with either a dustcloth or feather duster, but nothing works very well. So frustrating!

I didn''t know the plates were detachable! I used it just yesterday and sat there with like 20 paper towels until I got every last bit of grease off!

Ewww. I''ve threatened to make them go outside...Like the dog. I think the dog would be neater if I let him use the bathroom.

Clothes! I HATE doing laundry. I''ll clean the bathroom, wash the floors, do the dishes, anything else, just NOT laundry.

Ditto!

Unfortunately the husband has been banned from laundry after destroying several clothing items... so I''m stuck.

I''ve been thinking about this and actually there isn''t anything I don''t like to clean. I love dishes-the water calms me down. We have such a tiny apartment that vacuuming takes maybe 20 minutes. The bathroom doesn''t bother me either. I use my swiffer vac to take care of the floors and everything else gets scrubbing bubbles.

I guess if there is anything I dislike it would be cleaning out the fridge since we eat out a lot and then forget we have food containers in the fridge.

Call me crazy, but as much as liking to clean can go, the bathroom is my favorite. It has direct gratification of seeing results (mirrors!) feels morally good (it''s the bathroom!) and can be completed in 20min making me feel accomplished.

I HATE doing dishes. We have a system in my house that whoever cooks, the other person has to do the dishes. 9 times out of 10 I do the cooking. (and pro''lly do the dishes anyway 2 out of those 9)

It''s annoying, because you have to do each grout line, but they really work! I just moved into an apartment with itsy bitsy tiles on the floors. And they needed help.

Took about 5 MEs, but dang the floors look good!

ETA: OK - I got excited about this until I realized I would have to go in between each tile, each nook, to clean all the grout...not so excited anymore...

I know.... but it''s actually less elbow grease than using a scrub brush.

I HATE cleaning:

- my 12 qt stock pot

- our windows

- our shower--we have white subway tiles in the bathroom and they are IMPOSSIBLE to keep perfectly clean


(Ha! I just noticed that I called the stockpot ''my'' stockpot--can you tell who uses the kitchen in our house?)

Haven- We also have white subway tiles. What do you use to clean them? I feel like we always have residue on them and I can''t get rid of it!
