Dreamgirl - Great job with the serious conversation with the bf. This is a positive move in the right direction. Good for you!

Thanks Legacy!

Mamie -- A DATE!
32.gif
... Nope, not yet.
38.gif
I''m not sure how we are going to narrow it down! Agh! I believe it will be some time in the summer next year as well. My bf lives in Seattle and I live in Vancouver, BC, so there will be some more complications ... more so than the average couple so it''s going to be a bit of a headache but I can''t wait for it to happen so that we can be together all the time!
I''m full of all kind of emotions! Crazy being the most prevalent one, at present.
25.gif

You are such a good girl ... actually, you beat me to the punch. I plan to pick up one of those wedding planning book thingys to try and start to get myself organized.
I HAVE made the majority of calls & emails to friends and family!
16.gif
Pretty much took care of that all on Sunday so I''m glad that that is out of the way but I keep on thinking I might have missed someone important and am worried that they will find out from someone other than us. I really hope not!!
It IS scary but I''m thinking it will get better once I/we have a better idea of what we are doing.

Edotf104 - Thank you so much for the congrats and compliments! I appreciate it!
35.gif

Dani511 - Thank you! I''m so glad you thought the story was sweet. It was a very special moment!
Another Simon G lover! Yay!! Do you have a favorite??
30.gif
Are you eyeing one up???
31.gif

How wonderful!! Congratulations and that is one ***gorgeous*** ring! I''m so happy for you! The proposal sounded so sweet, too! Best wishes!
36.gif

Sparkalicious, you are very welome! It sounds as though it was so sweet!
1.gif

I do have a Simon G that I have been eyeing!
9.gif
I had tried one on in November (at that point I had thought my BF and I were going to get engaged soon thereafter, but it had been postponed for several reasons- but I am crossing my fingers!) at a reputable B&M in the Bronx, NY. I am not sure of the item number (I am trying to look it up now, but I do know it is in the 2005-2006 collection), but it was a white gold halo setting, with both pave round diamonds and a row of small princess diamonds in the middle of the band (sort of a double split shank??- but the band was fairly thick). Pictures of it, I have found, do not do it justice, it was gorgeous in person. It is about .91ctw.

It is very possible that whenever we do get engaged, this could be my setting. Since then I have really been eyeing the Simon G''s and I really love them! I also love how they combine white and yellow gold (even though the setting described above is only white). Your ring is just grogeous,
30.gif
I love it!! I am sure it looks even more beautiful in person!

Beautiful ring and story!!
36.gif

36.gif

Sparkalicious!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats on your engagement! How exciting for you both, especially after all those years. I just love your proposal story, I had a good giggle, I could just imagine you having your little hissy fit, and to see the look on your face when he popped the question would have been priceless. I told SO about it and he had a little giggle too, it sounds just like something I would do. (maybe your engagement fairy dust might rub off onto another old timer here, hey?!)

Enjoy this special time! And gorgeous ring BTW!

That is a BEAUTIFUL proposal, darlin''!! I am so very, VERY happy for you! And what a lovely ring!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
36.gif

Ktdid - Thank you for being so happy for me and for the great compliments. That is so great! Makes me even more excited. Thank you!
36.gif

Okay Dani511 the jig is up.
11.gif
I want some pics of this Simon G ring of which you speak. Bad or not. Please don''t make me go digging around the internet looking for it.
25.gif

I hope that when you guys are ready or when the timing is right that you get the beautiful Simon G setting of your dreams!

Thanks again SarahLovesJS ... I have a longer response for you on the SMTR thread.
9.gif

Honey22 - Yay!! Thank you, thank you very much. I''m SO glad that you had a good giggle. I was hoping that someone would. I was being so ridiculous and I was hoping that someone would "get" my humour. I love the fact that you told your SO and that HE laughed too. That''s terrific! Seriously ... it was a laughing matter. I was standing there in a huff with red cat pajamas on ... My own fault though ... He said that I was too quick to get changed so he wasn''t able to ask when I was still wearing something dignified. Oh well .. makes for a better story, right?
9.gif
I''m sending a fellow old timer tons of PS fairy dust. I just know it will be happening soon for you. Yay!
36.gif

Gwendolyn - Thank you so much, daaaahhling! I appreciate you being so happy for me ... gives me the warm and fuzzies! See us girls with "fingers of substance" can represent too, right?
25.gif
How are you coming along with your e-ring search ... Decide on which setting you would like to go with yet?

*grins* I seriously am so happy for you! I told J about your proposal because I thought it was just so sweet and I kinda nudged him like "hey, this would be fabulous if you did this sort of proposal." His response: "Well, I was planning on distracting you to get down on my knee too, but I wasn''t thinking of doing it with a letter. I was just thinking of saying, "Look over there, a three-headed monkey!" I told him that would be so romantic.
3.gif

As for my setting search, I am 99.99999% sure I want Mark Morrell''s Torchiere (decided I like the flat band better than the knife edge for my honkin'' fingers), BUT I am not sure we will have money to get it! I won''t mind having a smaller stone than my ideal because I love that setting so so so much, but I''m worried about how much we''ll be able to save next year with all the fees we have to pay for visas and wedding permissions and whatnot, and of course there''s my student loans and things also. So...we''ll see. It is really important to me to have an engagement ring, but I also don''t want to put off getting engaged/married for years until we can afford it. I *might* be ok with getting it after the fact at some point, although the importance of it to me is the sentiment attached to it that goes along with the proposal itself, so......I dunno. So, yeah, a long and complicated answer for a simple question! Sorry about that.

2.gif

Oh yeah, and CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!!
9.gif

Gwendolyn - Too funny. Pls tell Mr. J
38.gif
to the "three-headed monkey".
9.gif
Hmmm ... I wonder if he''ll take the hint and start putting a pen to paper for you. I hope so!
36.gif

I love your MM Torchiere choice. I don''t blame you one bit! I prefer the flat band to the knife edge as well. You know what ... these things sometimes just have a way of working out perfectly for us. I''m certain that you will somehow find that your budget can accomodate this purchase. Possibly, J is working on that right now.
27.gif

I''ll keep my fingers crossed for you and THANK YOU for your congrats!
35.gif

Haha...Ok Sparkalicious, here is a pic of the one I tried on in the store and loved!
9.gif
It wouldn''t let me upload the better pic that I have, so this is only a profile shot and it is only the semi-mount. I hope I did this right! This is my first time attaching pics!
Oh and thank you so much!!
12.gif
I hope it happens, too!

And congrats again, wear that beautiful ring in good health!

Oh wow! It did work, haha! I am sorry it is so big and that it took me a while to respond to you, Sparkalicious!

OH DANI! I LOOOOVE it! ... Truly it is fantastic!
30.gif

Thanks so much for posting that pic.
I''ve seen a lot of halo settings on PS but I LOVE this one and love the fact that there is the diamond encrusted u shape. That is lovely and am positive that it was just STUNNING in real life!
Whoohoo ... NOW I''m really excited for you. If you get it, you better be sure to post pics for me to drool over, you lucky girl!

Oh Sparkalicious, you are welcome, and I am *so glad* you like it!!!
9.gif
I didn''t want to post any pics like that before because I thought maybe I would jinx myself since I am not sure how when the engagement will be (although things are getting more and more likely everyday, thank goodness!).

But I loved it in the store and I kept going back to that one, and now you telling me how much you like it makes me feel like I should defintily continue with the hints towards that one!!
2.gif
I am so happy!! Thank you so much! I will certainly post pics if I am lucky enough to get it!!!! When someone with as gorgeous a ring as yours compliments me on my prospective setting (hopefully one day!), then I know it must be nice!!
9.gif

You''re a doll, and I wish you tons of happiness!
12.gif

Of course I like it! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!
9.gif

I hope you didn''t feel as though you were jinxing anything ... I think that maybe by posting the pic and "putting it out there" ... the universe will "pick up the hint" and ensure that you get it ... How does that sound?
25.gif

If YOU liked it in the store and you kept on going back to it ... I too, suspect that that is the ONE for you!
36.gif
To be honest, I was also skeptical about my setting, initially, although I had lusted after it in pics for a long time and actually started crying when I saw it, in person, for the first time. It was such an automatic and involuntary response. I was just overcome.

I''ll post a link to a thread that I had discussing my angst as it might prove helpful to you when dealing with any hesitation you might be having b/c you''re not sure it might be perceived by others as being as beautiful as you think it is ... Click here
If you LOVE it ... stick with it and don''t go with something else that might be more "popular" etc. Your ring will be you and for you to enjoy. If you get a ring that suits someone else and is not you ... you will not be happy. Don''t settle!

Thank you for wishing me happiness. That is just too sweet. I really appreciate that. Thank YOU!

Boy are we nice or what?
12.gif

I have to share ... I was just rereading some of this thread and thinking ... I have a FIANCE! Woohoo! I''m stll excited... this is GREAT!
36.gif

Awww Sparkalicious, you're the *best*!!!!
9.gif

Thanks for talking to me about this, for all of your kind words, and for the link to your thread, it really helped and got me thinking!! Even though I am not sure when I will be getting engaged (could be this summer, could be this fall or winter, I am hearing conflciting things, but at least I know he is in the process of saving now-there was a time recently when I was unsure), I had been thinking about my friends settings and what they usually say about diamond rings. Most of them like a more plain solitaire or a few side diamonds, and think that lots of diamonds, or even a halo, spoils the center diamond. I, on the other hand LOVE lots of sparkle and lots of diamonds! I am sure we have that in common!
9.gif
I kept going back to that one in the store because of that- and also because the halo will give my diamond a larger appearance (it will be my grandmother's diamond, about 1.00 carat)! And also I did sort of feel overcome as well- it was just a feeling that I had that this could be the ring for me- as though I really felt it was mine, more so than the others. So, I should stick to what is me, like you had said!
1.gif

We had tried on a few different styles that we both liked at the time, and he refuses to tell me which one he likes the best, but I know that when the times comes, we will be trying on a few once again. And ultimatly, it will come down to what I like. I do have a feeling, however, that if I loved it then, I am sure I will be leaning toward it and loving it in the future as well.
2.gif

And you are very welcome for the well-wishes, you deserve it!
12.gif
Enjoy your ring and your *fiance* (I am excited for you- I can imagine how great it feels to say that!!) THANK YOU so mcuh again!!!

Thanks everyone!

-- That is terrific. The tears mean that that diamond is a winner! I cried the first time I saw this setting! It is so much more understated and spectacular in real life. I had NO idea tha the whole diamond & ring shopping experience would be so emotional or rewarding. I was a bit neurotic during some phases, however, we still managed to have fun.

Actually, I think it''s a good thing too that it won''t happen on your anniversary .. that way you get to celebrate another day!
31.gif

It sound as though your patience will be richly rewarded ... Europe, huh?! I wonder what he is cooking up!

Awww I am glad I am not the only one neurotic is my catchphrase :D:D:D. I have had to stop to go as far as naming her (according to BF it would be bad luck to name her till she is born :P I think he just thinks it is funny I have decided it is a she :P).

I like the way you think spark ;) hehehe I like more days to celebrate means more pressies for me *YAY* I have no idea what he has planned I am sure he knows but he is letting on nothing
28.gif

You''re welcome, Dani!
Please pay your friends no mind ... Their preferences are just that ... theirs.

Another tip for you, if you really do wish to go with Simon G. Shop around! My setting was quoted as $4,400 at one place, $3,250 at another and finally at $2.500 where I made my purchase. Go to Simon G''s website and visit all the Simon G vendors in your area ... obtain the style# of the ring you like and then SHOP AROUND to get quotes!! You''ll be amazed at how they can vary for the same item/same quality etc!!

Good luck ... I hope your stint as an LIW will be over before you know it.
1.gif

Deelight - We are neurotic. No denying it so we might as well own it, right?!
19.gif
Name your diamond!
You like the more pressies, heh?? I thought you might.
31.gif
You''re a girl after my own heart!

9.gif
Thanks once again, and I will definitly take your advice and shop around! I was told recently that we will start looking again this summer (or maybe even a little bit before), I am very excited!
9.gif
I may even go by myself or with a friend and try it on again sometime soon
2.gif

A BIG wooohoo to that, Dani511!
Good idea ... Go try it on and have fun trying on other ones as well ... Why not! Oh and ... TAKE PICS!
25.gif

Congrats Sparky! I''d missed this thread.

What wonderful news.

Thanks Indy! I appreciate you stopping in to offer your congrats!

35.gif

Congrats to you as well! I''m happy for you that WP1 is down and you had a fantastic, albeit, "interesting" time of it!
