I'm strongly considering a diamond on Blue Nile (i.e. can't see it before buying) that has a sub-1 HCA score. I'm concerned that it won't perform as well as the HCA tool suggests given its sub-1 score and low crown angle.
Here are the details:
60.2% depth
57% table
32.5° crown angle
41° pavilion angle
Light Return: Excellent
Fire: Excellent
Scintillation: Excellent
Spread: Excellent
Total Visual Performance: 0.7 - Excellent (within TIC range)
I'm pretty new at this. My finance and I decided to upsize from a current (Blue Nile) engagement ring that was an HCA 1.3 so I need to make sure that this won't be 1 step forward and 2 back. They have a great return policy, but shipping (and insurance) isn't free and the fiance really wants to wear her ring.
Thoughts?
Cheers.
