Thoughts on diamond

I believe you have to upload to YouTube and use that link here. Or something like that. I’ve never tried.
Both stones are beautiful. You have to decide I guess which one makes your heart skip a beat. :))

Thank you!! I think I will skip the video that sounds to complicated for me..:twisted2:

You know it is funny because the 2 stones are not really off on measurements... but I think you like the fullness of the round and the large look it gives. I don't know if the photos are in similar surrounds for both stones... from the photos the oval is definitely brighter. However, as shown, the round certainly doesn't have the tint I would've expected in a K. Can you post a side view?
I don't know what it looks like in other lighting, and it seems the room you are in is fairly (drab) as far as lighting is concerned (not your room decor lol... I love your wood floors and paneled door!)... so with all that said, as well as the feedback you've been given that the stone may suffer, I don't think it is unattractive at all from what you've shown. Tell me... you said the jeweler received in on a trade... why was the customer getting rid of it???

Thanks so much for your feedback! I will try and get more photos tomorrow..but in all fairness the day I tool pics of oval it was bright and sunny out..today we have nothing but clouds. I think I just like the disco ball effect it gives off where as my oval does not.. I mis understood..today we asked him more questions and it was not a trade in it was someone selling it and he was able to buy at a great price. Divorce maybe? I didn't ask why they were selling it.

I, too, like the oval, and I don't think pretty ovals are easy to find, and also her oval looks so white! But I think OP is drawn to the larger, fuller look. However, it isn't as bright, although still looks attractive. So diff strokes for diff folks! I do understand, as I had 2 nicer, whiter diamonds before I had my most previous 3.29 RB but I wanted that size. But now I like having something smaller but in higher quality and much higher color so I made significant downgrade in size so, while it isn't a huge diamond and certainly not "impressive" in that context (depending on what someone perceives as impressive), it's colorless attribute definitely stands out amongst stones of lower color. But I think she is craving that larger look which I totally get as I was there at one point, so this may be a good one for her!

Yes! I like the fullness and "disco ball" effect. In reality the oval does not look any whiter than the round..I know its weird..I can't believe it myself bc I am super sensitive to color but it looks white as white outside and maybe looks a little darker in the grocery store which is the only place I went today but it sparkled like mad in there. I even put it next to my moms RB F color and there was slight difference hardly noticeable.

It sounds like you love it and I think your oval is in the rear view mirror at this point! It is fun to make a change, I totally get it. I just don't want you to regret it, but I guess if you were 100% happy with your oval you wouldn't have even paid attention when the jeweler told you that round had come in! You've been super focussed on it for days and, if you are anything like me lol, once you get something in your head that you like, you will find a way to make it happen!!!

Well, that makes sense that you are more attracted to it over the oval... you just get more sparkle from a round. And obviously the shape of a round feels larger. I think you like the symmetrical aspect. And, of course, the disco ball... both in shape and in sparkle!

Sounds like someone needed to unload the stone. Clearly that doesn't bother you and I personally don't think it should. Diamonds, like us, are on their own journey, in my view. It was obviously loved at one time (perhaps still today and a sacrifice sale), and it needed a new, good home, and I think it may be yours! Will your jeweler give you a good trade on it from your oval? Did you originally get the oval from that jeweler? Of course, when I traded ny 3.29 for my current 2.01, all I cared about was getting what I wanted for what I was trading in for. And it worked out that way so we each got what we needed... I got what I was seeking, and my jeweler got something he can turn around and make a profit on. Win-win.

@headlight you downsized too? I thought I was the only crazy one that would do such a thing! Lol

Yes that is the way I see it..this will be my 4th diamond since I got engaged..I am sentimental about my wedding band that has the stones from my moms wedding set but I am happy to switch around with my engagement ring stone..I know some people feel differently and thats ok to each their own. My jeweler really is great and a family friend..He always credits me exactly what I paid him whenever I trade in..I actually paid more for my oval stone than what this stone is worth but he will work it all out with me so its good for the both of us. Just like you said win-win. Just as this isn't my first diamond I know it won't be my last =)2 Thanks again for all your input! I needed to get some outsiders opinions to make sure nothing was glaringly wrong with the cert or pics but I knew it would come down to me wearing it for the day to make up my mind.

Just a follow up 9 months later and I am head over heels in love with this diamond..Out of 4 diamonds I have had this is the only one I can honestly say I am in love with!! I have not even experienced shrinkage yet. She is a kaleidoscope of sparkle. Just a couple pics I took in the sun..087A7AF1-A3B3-4F18-8B6B-C46F24317187.jpegB62BDA5A-7C78-4275-A231-31F53F36DCD0.jpeg53814D95-A463-4441-864C-21C0549662E1.png

It’s beautiful! Im so glad you are still enjoying it!

Your ring is just gorgeous SDS :kiss2:

There are some ppl that do not like a larger table which is what you have. It’s ok as long as you are okay with it. That’s why there’s chocolate and vanilla. :)
Get as many pictures as you can and look at stone in different lighting not just store lighting.

I don't like large tables, and I don't like chocolate!
