Thoughts on these claw prongs

I just upgraded my ring to a beautiful 3 ct OEC set in platinum. I love the setting, except I’m unsure about the claw prongs. They seem a bit clunky to me, but I’ve never had claw prongs before, so I may just need some time to get used to them. Would you keep them as is? Or ask the jeweler to shave them down or switch to round prongs? IMG_0995.jpeg

Gorgeous diamond! Swoon worthy. I think the prongs are a smidge thick but unsure of how secure the diamond might be with more delicate prongs. I don't think they detract from the beauty of the diamond.

Now....tell us all about your diamond please. :)

It’s hard to tell from your pics - but do the four prongs all look the same shape?

If they aren’t - I’d ask them to be fixed.
If they are - do they snag at all?
(Snag free is different than lint free)
If they don’t - I’d be tempted to leave it.

I think claw prongs are tricky.

If your heart wants skinny talon claws or petite claws - go for it and ask them to be revised until you are happy. But I’d make sure your jeweler has done them that way before.

your ring looks lovely on you!

Beautiful ring and diamond! Agree with previous comments, I've seen smaller claw prongs done before but that's not to say this looks bad and echoing thoughts about the security of your diamond. It's all what you prefer and you have to wear it everyday so go with what you love!

It is beautiful but if you are on the fence, I would change them to exactly how you want them. Too many times I have regretted not fixing or getting exactly what I want! Maybe wear for a few weeks and decide.

Thank you! GIA.JPGIt's a 3.01 carat OEC, E color, VVS2 sourced by my local jeweler. We looked at a lot of "just ok" stones before finding this one.

I love claws and have them on my own solitaire. But yours seem bulky and (as @Rfisher noticed) asymmetric. You didn't include any side views, and I wonder if the prongs can be shaved down or if the head simply needs to be redone.

Gorgeous stone, and good luck!
