I would love your inputs please~~

I have been on a pink sapphire search and would like to have it set as a ring. Could you please give me your opinion on the following 2 stones?

Stone 1 (round cut):
2.1 ct
Measurements: 7.7 x 4.3 mm
Origin: Mozambique / Africa
unheated

Stone 2 (cushion/emerald cut):
1.96 ct
Measurements: 8.53 x 6.07 x 3.91 mm
Origin: sri lanka
unheated

I really appreciate it!! TIA

They are both very shallow and look like they have windows. If you want, you can post your search parameters and we can try to help you look!

Sapphire 1:
A bit shallow and slightly windowed. No proof of it being unheated, unless you have not shared this information with us. Stone looks to be clarity challenged with some naturals breaking the surface. Not a stone I'd be comfortable with set in a ring.

Sapphire 2:
Super shallow, lopsided and off-symmetry with a huge window which is definitely not a recut candidate. Also no proof of having no treatment. Seeing silk or rutile is not indicative of non-heating.

sigh~~ i'm such a newb.. which is why its great you guys are here!!!

I love the color of the two stones...I want that vivid pink color.

Please help me find the perfect one!!

I'm looking for a vivid/neon pink color, unheated/untreated, 1.5-2.5ct, round or cushion cut.

THANK YOU!!!! :D

Do you mind sharing your budget range? Is there an mm size you'd like? With coloured stones, a 1.5 ct round sapphire could be anywhere from 6 mm to 8 mm, depending on the cut so having a minimum / maximum threshold is always a good thing.

Up to $1300 for the stone and bigger the better! teehee~~
although, good point in having a minimum...minimum of 6.5mm.

$1300 is pushing it for a 6.5 mm strong to vivid unheated pink sapphire.

#2 is not symmetric and all and totally deal breaker for me.

Does it have to be that sort of hot pink color? Is that the ideal color?

#1 has a window, and the photo looks photoshopped to me. The color just doesn't look "real" but you can ask the seller if the color is accurate.

#2 is really badly cut, so I concur with others on that.

I wouldn't take anyone's word that it's unheated/untreated or even minimally treated. Pink sapphires are often highly treated stones.

Thank you everyone for your replies!
I suppose i'll need to just wait a little and wait till i can increase my budget :(

and the search continues....

Thanks again!

What's that purplish blue streak in the first round sapphire? It isn't as prominent in the face up picture but is quite large in the pavilion picture.
