I don't like that I can see through the very center (I can see the skin beneath) and there is a large dark area around the center.

I don't like ANY of them.

Stone 2 has too many dark areas and Stone 3 doesn't look bright.

Videos take some getting used to. I'm off my game. Thanks Chrono.

Gypsy,
I was referring to the OP's choices, not the ones you suggested from JA. I haven't looked at those yet.

ETA
JA #1 - love the cut but that dark booger right on the table bugs me to no end. It is big, dark and in the most obvious location possible.
JA #2 - nice even though I'm not a fan of that type of cut. I'm surprised the I colour looks more tinted than the H of #1
JA #3 - nice! Lots of potential and I like this cut pattern.

On JA#1, do you think you can see that dark booger without magnification?

Yes, I think you will.

Not a fan of any of the ones originally posted, but I do like JA #2 and #3 (and #3 the best of those two).

I love that stone and I've been admiring it for days (not for me because it's chunky), but it is beautiful except for the enormous inclusion on the table. Such a shame ;( I wonder though if you could have that polished out?

Out of these three, the third is my favorite.

the gia report looks pretty clean...so i'm not sure they are inclusions:

thoughts?

Did you talk to a rep? Is it eye clean? If it is, I wouldn't worry about it, just something I was curious about. It's a beautiful stone!

Boy... I'm having a hard time liking this up close... The "round peg in a square hole thing" (which is all I can think about when I look at it because of whatever is going on in the midlde) is really distracting to me. Plus is very "splintered." If this is the look you are going for, great (and feel free to disregard anything I said because it is only my opinion). But cushions are very different; ones like this, chunky faceted ones, and everything in between. Do you have a specific look in mind?

not really, just looking for something clean, at least 1.5 carats and within the budget, which is around 8500! going to go with a simple 14k soltaire setting so that leaves most of the $ being applied to the stone

anyone else with thoughts on these above diamonds? thanks in advance for your opinions!

I don't like any of the stones and would not purchase them. Either the table is too big or too much leakage or horrid pattern.

I know you skipped over my advice but that eBay diamond is worth considering and I know he will go a bit lower on price. i was asking for my friend but he ended up buying from Mark at ERD. Also, don't think about what the ring looks like right ow ... Settings can easily be changed. If you don't want second hand (although the diamonds you buy from a vendor can very well be second or third or fourth hand but you wouldn't know), try contacting engagement ring direct. Try are very good at finding cushions that works within a budget.

Also, go read up on cushions before making a choice. I recently wrote about different types of cushions here.

Or go round? This seller has a store in Chicago andi have been there a few times. Very honest seller. Below your budget.

If you decide after reading Charmys thread that you like the appearance of antique cushions, these may be worth considering. The photos show reflection from the camera but they state that there is not darkness under the table in person, so it may be worth looking into. Others here have more experience in cushions than I do, so maybe one of them can chime in and offer an opinion.

This is being called an OEC,but it has a cushion-y shape to it. It has the same spread as a 1.5 cushion so don't just focus on the ct weight.
