AGS Ideal 000
1.5 carats round brilliant
I color
S1 clarity
CA - 33.5
PA - 41.1
Table - 56.9
Depth - 61.3

Hi just looking for some opinions on this diamond. I know this is def not a perfect diamond as there is light leakage is the asset image. However, I'm just trying to strike a balance in cost and the actual diamond itself. Budget is up to 12k. To me, this seems like a pretty good deal for $10500. I talked to gemologist and was told I wouldn't notice the I color since I am planning to set it on a white gold band.
I'm just looking for a decent starter diamond and when the time comes I will update to WhiteFlash ACA or another higher end diamonds.

That fairly much shocks me that AGS graded that diamond ideal cut. Is it a stone WF had in inventory or a virtual stone you called in?

So the cert report is from AGS? I'm surprised they would call this ideal as well. And the carat wt is listed on the cert rpt as exactly 1.5?

Can you get magnified pics so that you can see the SI1 inclusions & have them confirm the stone is eye-clean?

This is a stone from WF inventory - expert selection

Is it really that bad? When I was talking with their rep he said, if you compared this beside one of their ACA diamonds, you wouldn't really be able to notice a difference. It's only when you look at the magnified images that you would notice these differences.

If they say it is not noticeable next to an ACA, that is fine. Small amounts of leakage are not detectable under normal (NON Ideal-Scope) conditions.

I don't like it. It's got too much darkness around the center. Even the picture of the stone bothers me. I'll look for something else.

This one scored a .8 on the HCA and it's well within your budget! It's a J, but has strong blue fluorescence:

oh wow, yes that is def within my budget as I am willing to go up to $12,000 for the diamond alone.
I've never heard of exceldiamonds, are they reputable like GOG, WF, BG? - not sure how much the gf will like the blue florescence, i'm assuming that is why the $8200? I know some people love it.

No, that's not why...Fluorescence will help a J colored stone (especially strong blue which a lot of people on here like) look more like an H or an I colored stone. And Excel diamonds has been around for a while and there have been plenty on this forum that have bought from them. They have great prices, they're just not as "popular" as the other vendors. Personally, I don't care if my stones comes from a "popular" vendor, just that I get the best price for the same stone. Since they're prices are lower, would you go up in carat weight?

Oh, I never knew that a strong blue would help a stone in the light yellow range. Good to know.
Yes I can go up in carat weight.
Pretty much looking for a 1.5 carat range diamond which is eye clean.

I've been using the search criteria

Table: 53-58
Depth: 59-62
CA: 33-35
PA: 40.6-41
Symmetry, Polish - Excellent/Ideal
Clarity - VS-SI1

Found a couple SI2 1.5 carats on GOG for what appears a decent price. Just not sure how "eye clean" they are.
