link??

Oops

Just edited my original post to include the link.

The grade making inclusion is the crystal, not the cloud. (You go by the order the inclusions are listed on the cert.) No worries with a VS2. Looks great. Love that ISEE2 scan.

As far as color, it is going to look like a K from the side. If you don't want to see a bit of color, you need to go higher. But it will be bright, very bright, from the top view.

Very nice choice.

Gorgeous!

Thank you for that correction, I am still learning so much!

I have asked Jonathan to prepare a video that compares it to another J stone I like. I should have it in the next day or two. I will also ask him to take a profile shot (to see color).

The stone looks outstanding!!! Color is very personal, though, and I think a LOT depends on the setting. It is hard to even decide when they are loose! I want one, too, and haven't decided about color! So I'll be very interested to see your video!

I wouldn't have any reservations about this stone at all. It is a beauty.

It's a gorgeous stone! Yes, the color thing I think will only be a factor depending on what type of setting you plan on putting it in. Did you reserve the J too, or are you just getting the video comparison of that one?

That's the newer cutting style of Jons AVR's, correct? It looks stunning. Can't wait to see the video.

Didn't reserve the J yet, my wife prefers the K (as she says "it speaks to her"). She too is worried about the K color though.

This diamond will be for an upgrade - her original stone is an I color, and it faces up very white.

No antique settings, just not her thing and she already has a halo for her RHR. We're going to get something custom made in platinum / rose gold.

She really likes the first setting, but no diamonds on the shank as shown. Also would likely use pink diamonds as accents in the "petals".

We also like the second design, but are considering making the upside-down "U's" of the basket in rose gold.

I love those settings!!! :appl: I am going to say that I think she might prefer the J in those settings if she has had an I color up til now. But you really need to send for the K to look at to be sure. As much as I love and depend on Jon's video's, you have to see color in person.

Just not a feasible option as we are in Canada. Shipping, taxes, duty, etc. If this particular stone doesn't work out, we will wait until the beginning of June as we are planning (and have booked) our first NY trip. That way, if needed, we could visit GOG and if needed ERD (I know they sell European Brilliant cut stones as well).

1. If one is the newest version of their AVR cut and the other is not, I'd buy whichever one that's the newer cut. If neither is the new cut, look at the newer one before you buy anything. As for color, I don't see a significant advantage to that particular J.

2. Jon has a colorimeter machine and I'd ask him to run both of those. They look pretty close together like one is low in it's grade and the other is high and they are borderline the same. I'd just be curious to see what the machine says.

I like that 1st setting better. I might even want the entire head to be RG or YG or whatever non-white metal you were considering. The second setting looks like it might be harder to get at the diamond to keep the pavilion clean and I am compulsive about no dirty diamonds. LOL

(Apologizes if all this was covered earlier. I had interruptions while typing.)

Here is the video folks... so what does everyone think of the diamond on the left? (K Color)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E801WMTh5uE&feature=youtu.be

I think it is beautiful, and honestly, it looks so close to the J that I think it is probably fine as long as she doesn't mind slight warmth.

(Both stones are the new cut, anyway, but I like the earlier cut just as well.)

There really isn't much difference in colour at all. Both are stunning stones, my preference would be for the smallest table (tall crown) and any savings to be had. Either stone will be a winner though.

The K looks larger and for some reason maybe even more white than the J. The J seems to have a slight tint that I can't see in the k. Guess I'm just weird as i don't see how that is possible, but it looks that way to me. At one angle against the white background a saw a slight yellow fleck of tint on the K, but it was very small.

I would have no reservations about picking the K...personally I like it better from the video....you can't go wrong either way. They are both awesome.

Did you see the thread on Wintotty's 3 + carat AVR K color? Jon stated it had a brownish pink tint. It is lovely.

I think the K is beautiful & don't see any reason to switch to the J. I love this new cutting style! I really thought I preferred the older AVR but after watching your video I've changed my mind. You really can't go wrong with either diamond.

The K in that WF setting would just be stunning!!!

Isn't that WF setting ... the Leon Mege setting? Very expensive for what it is.

The two diamonds are so similar ...

So after much thought and deliberation we have decided to pass on both stones.

They are gorgeous, and my wife was partial to the K stone, but gut instinct is that it will be slightly too warm for what we prefer.

It was so temping to pull the trigger, but we need to be patient.

I have asked Jonathan to keep us “in the know” for new inventory… with a preference of H/I color, even if that means moving down slightly in clarity.

And so the “waiting” begins…
