1.636 Ideal cut

Table 56.1
Depth 61.7
35.3 and 40.8

It scores a 2.1 HCA and I noticed it has pointed cutlet. Is that bad, I noticed most diamonds have no cutlet.

Attached are the AGS reports including scintillation

Pointed means the same as no culet. The stone looks great! You do not use the HCA on AGS Ideal cut diamonds. They are graded for cut. Do you have pictures of the stone and has someone confirmed it is eyeclean from the top and sides?

Here are some pictures of the diamond. have not confirmed it as eyeclean yet. They said it should be but could check. I

Now my problem is that I was hoping to buy closer to proposal so I could return if the gf wanted something else... scheduled surprise proposal is april 13th.

What is the vendors return policy? Is it possible for you to change the proposal date?

Christina, I guess that means you like diamond?

30 days on return. Can't change the date but I could buy and assume all be fine or wait and risk this one selling :)

Does the vendor have an upgrade policy? As long as you could upgrade, the 30 days wouldn't matter. But why do you have to wait until April? There is a very good occasion coming up in about a week!!!

I don't think she'd turn that stone down! Perhaps put in simple setting and let her choose the mounting herself instead?

Assuming this stone is eyeclean is it safe to assume it will be amazing?

I guess I am asking is there such thing as an AGS Ideal diamond that is a dud?

Yes, I like the diamond. ;)) It's already been evaluated for light performance by AGS and met their ideal standard, so it will in no way be a dud. I have seen IS of AGS0 stones that appear to exhibit slight leakage under the table, however it's been argued that it's unlikely to ever be detected by the human eye. I think that if you are buying blind then an AGS0 stone is the safest way to go.

So, the question is...do you like it well enough to purchase now and up the proposal date? If you don't like the idea of a Valentines proposal, I bet she would be totally surprised by a day after valentines proposal! :))

I think it looks great!

Yep, I purchased it :)

Although I will probably wait to propose as hard as it may be. I was just thinking I didn't get an idealscope and was wondering if maybe I made mistake. Thank you for the reassurance. You guys and girls "ROCK"

If the vendor is BN then you wouldn't have been able to get an IS anyway, so don't worry about that now. I'll make you a bet though.....you won't make it until April to propose! :naughty:

It was ritani :)

The original plan was to go with WF and get the ritani setting for them but I got a good deal on this stone (I believe)

You right, i probably won't. There was some significance to the date I was targeting but it will be tough to wait.

There is a proposal ideas forum here too if you want to check it out. It's located under the forum tab at the top of the page. Good Luck and be sure to post lots and lots of pics when the ring shows up!
