I'm in the market for a diamond, and have come across this one (IGS certified) and am curious on how its stats would compare to that of a GIA certified stone. I don't know much about IGS certifications, and am not coming up with much online in regards to its reliability on grading.

note: I would be paying much less than the appraised value

No on clarity enhancement. No on any grading other than GIA or AGS. We will be happy to help you, and I am glad you have come here before making a huge mistake!

If you tell us your budget, we can show you some excellent diamonds!

That bad? I mean I was expecting to see a drop in the grading if it were certified by GIA or AGS, but could it really be that far off?

I added a video of the ring, if that helps in any way

yes it is!! a top cut D VS1 stone from GIA/AGS lab will probably fetch $45K +

I understand, but I'm not paying for the certification, I'm paying for a diamond, and want the most for my money. I expect the grading to be a bit off, but my question is how would it be most likely?

With the stats I've given, and based on the video, how much do you think the grades would drop if it were to have been GIA certfifed.

let me put it this way...YOU'LL GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! ..how much $$$ for this stone?

Clarity enhancement is risky because the filling can come out and you'd have a mess. I honestly would rather have synthetic over that. You'd be WAY overpaying in a case like that. Grading by anyone other than GIA and AGS is a total crap shoot. If you want a 2 ct. stone, about the lowest you could get by with would be J SI1, and those are going to run around $15k or so.

GIA wouldn't grade a clarity enhanced stone. And usually only stones with very poor clarity are enhanced.
