Is $3625 a fair price to pay for the following stone?

0.96ct, K, VS2, (6.19 x 6.41 x 3.91mm), Total Depth 62.1%, Table Size: 48%, Girdle VTN to MED, Polish Good, Symmetry Fair, GIA certified Old European Cut

Thanks for everyone's input

Personally I would never buy a K color diamond but you and I are different. Just would get tired of the occasional whisper of a yellow tint in the diamond. I'd rather go SI1 or SI2 with a G or H but that is just me. A yellow mounting would tend to hide that K color more than a white gold/platinum. JMHO.

that isnt exactly an easy thing to do in an OEC, plus, the cut lends itself to the more romantic colors. I really love the K i posted, so even if you dont go for it, if it looks at all the same, it would look lovely :))

For a modern stone, I might agree (depending on the end usage like earrings or pendant versus ring) but for old cuts you just can't generally pitch them out wholesale because of some tint. Lower color are a lot more common and they tend to hide their coloring pretty well and the faceting seems to be a lot more forgiving of tint.
