Thoughts on this Padparadscha for an engagement ring

Not all "pads" are created equal. You might want to check one more before giving up on it. A bit more saturated than the stone you looked at and more on the pink side so it doesn't blend too much with the skin.

I used to also go for the richer colors in pad (more on the sunset side than peach) but once I had set my pastel pad, it looked so good so it was a pleasant surprise.

For lighter stones, the nice light Ceylons would be a good candidate.

I'm back with an update after a vacation and lots of back and forth with lapidaries:

I tried 1 more bright green-blue Montana afterwards and returned it - it was pretty nice outside during the day, but still found there to be dark undertones when not in daylight lighting conditions. I suppose this is the greyness folks here are talking about, probably something to do with indoor lighting lacking in blue wavelengths.

I took the suggestion of some of the users here and ordered a light ceylon blue sapphire and was wondering what folks think:

It looks violet under dim lighting as opposed to grey:

Not sure if the image quality/resolution on these screenshots are ok, I may need to upload them elsewhere.

I'm getting better at looking at the colour in different lighting conditions. Who knows, I may loop back to the pad again :???:

I really like the light Ceylon blue sapphire on her skin tone! It looks like the shape is slightly more oval than round, but the shape seems to compliment her skin tone. I think you should also consider what metal you will set the stone in so you can best determine what looks the best on her. Are you still set on the Tiffany bead set Harmony setting in platinum? I think it will look stunning! You may want to use the Tiffany as an inspiration setting, but have someone else such as David Klass make something similar for you for this stone as the cost of having the setting made for her may be less expensive.

The Ceylon blue looks nice. It’s not what I’d consider light....it’s more of a medium tone which is more preferred by many in the market compared to light ones.

@Crazie4Cuts That's actually my hand, but I'm flattered ;) Yes, I'm still thinking about the same style of setting, will need to look for a designer after I settle on a stone.

@Seaglow I'm curious what a really light ceylon blue would look like now.

Love the Ceylon sapphire! It changes personality but all the colors in different lights are pleasing.

Gorgeous blue!! It will make an amazing ring

I love the last sapphire, it looks terrific on your hand.
