Thoughts on this Pear diamond

@mrs-b thank you for your reccomendations!

Regarding #3 and #4, my girlfriend has a ring size of 4.5. And she told me that she is not looking for a stone that is a big as possible. Based on some comments she made and pictures of rings we saw together I know she will love anything above 0.5 carats. Obviously all things being equal the bigger the size the better, at least until 1 carat. However, taking on the risk of a diamond not being eye clean just for a bit more size I think is something I rather not do, especially, considering her ring size and that she does not care so much about size (as long as we are above 0.5 carats). Also returning a ring from Spain can be not a straight process and a bit time consuming.

Regarding #1 and #2 I love them and currently debating which one is better option between them and the one Niel recommended.

The problem with the halo setting it’s the price. For example, the cheapest halo setting I nBlue Nile is 748 euros which would put all these diamonds above my hard limit. Also, I haven´t mention them to my girlfriend so I´m not sure she would appreciate them. Could try to bring it up to her but gotta be careful as she is already expecting a ring in our upcoming trip and do know want to bring up this topic a lot before the trip.

Also, I haven´t considered solitaire bezel setting mostly just because I did not see any in JA or BN when looking at settings but have nothing against them.

@RCD1906 -

I'm only including one here from James Allen, as I think there's one that is far and away the best choice.

This has a slightly larger table (62%), but it's almost 3/4 of a ct, and is an SI1, lovely shape, beautiful proportions, ex/ex cut for polish and symmetry, and, at 1.54 ratio, is a little more organic looking. No bowtie to speak of, and I'm sure, given that it's a pear, the inclusions won't be noticeable to the naked eye. In my opinion, this is your diamond.

Personally, I think you should lock this down now. With medium fluoro, it's a bargain and, having posted it here, I doubt it will last long.

Just to be clear, this is a much prettier diamond than either 1 or 2 that I posted above. And it's as clean or cleaner than either of them.

(BTW, 1300 euros is 1420 US dollars)

Yeah, I think I´m gonna go with this one! Only concern are the inclusions being visible to the naked eye. But they do not look too bad and I believe when yo usay they won't be noticeable to the naked eye.

I really own you and a few other quite a few drinks! Very excited to propose and see her look when she sees the ring.

Good choice. Very solid from the perspective of parameters, and stellar from the overall look of it.

Don't be concerned about the inclusions; a thin scatter like this is WAY less visible than any single, larger inclusion. And #2 in the original link was an SI2 and this is an SI1. As SI1's go, I think this is a good one - better than diamond #1 from the first selection. Seriously, the extra 90 bucks has gotten you to the next level. Proceed with confidence.

Bought it! @mrs-b @Niel @tyty333 Thank a lot for all your help! You all have been amazing!

Can´t wait to see the ring in person :)

Hi there, @RCD1906 - I see you changed your mind on the diamond above. Was there a problem?

Not at all! So I bought the diamond yesterday because it’s beautiful but this morning I was talking to my girlfriend and she mentioned that she didn’t care much about the size. She just wants a diamond that looks beautiful. So I decided to reach out to JA to see if they could change the diamond to the one Niel recommended because it has a whiter color, less inclusions, still a decent size and its almost €400 cheaper.

I still like a lot the diamond you recommended and it was not an easy decision. Hope it makes sense.

No problem - and I like the one you bought, as well.

Just for your own education - those diamonds were E and F respectively - both in the colorless range. There's no way you'd be able to see a difference in color between the two.

@mrs-b I am wondering if you could also help me select a pear as well? I have a beautiful classic engagement ring (round with pear side stones) that I loved dearly but am going through a divorce and am looking to add something happy to my right hand. I'm very drawn to this design (large pear 1.54, small 0.3) because I have a have a young daughter and the two stones together remind me of our special bond through this terrible time. I have contacted Frank Darling for a custom ring because I love their unique settings. I am struggling to find two high quality stones as I know those less than 0.5 are not certified, but have been looking through the FD selection for something based on your parameters above. My budget for the two stones would be somewhere around 2800 or less. I did find this contender for the larger stone https://frankdarling.com/diamonds/diamond-CD2073BL/

Thank you in advance for any help!

Hi there, @love-sparkle!

The diamond you attached above looks lovely, but - just to clarify before we go any further - you know this is a lab diamond, yes?

@love-sparkle I love the idea of the 2 stones representing you and your daughter. I am sorry about your divorce though.

You need to start your own thread in this forum (lab grown) to get some help. I'm sure @mrs-b will follow you over and give her
advice.

This is the lab-grown forum...

Edit...also @love-sparkle You can use this website to see the size difference between the two stones you are looking at.
For that stone you posted, I really think you need bigger than a .3 pear to go with it for the same look as the picture above.
Maybe like a .5ish?

ok...edit again.
This if for a .5 pear
Here is the link to a .5 pear

@mrs-b and @tyty333 thanks so much for your input!! Will start a new thread. I contacted the original jeweler and they actually changed the reported sizing of the pears to 1.25 ct and 0.35 ct which make more sense proportion wise using the diamond.com comparison website. Thank you again for your help. It is very appreciated
