Thoughts on this sapphire ring?

The first also caught my eye but it hard to say if it’s the lighting differences or camera differences or substantive differences between stones!

I really like both!

Could they be a hair dark under normal lighting though?

I suspect they may be royal blue level. Did you want a royal blue or a corn flower? Or a deeper cornflower?

Thank you for replying! I think what I’m looking for is that classic, deep blue color. I definitely don’t want it to go borderline black, but I love a deeper blue. For example, here are some options that weren’t quite right. The far left stone was closest in color to what I prefer, but I felt the proportions were too rectangular, while I prefer more square. The next stone seemed too dark, and the next two appeared too light/not deeply saturated enough for what I am looking for.

Definitely then one of the two stones you posted is right for you!!!!

I still can’t decide between the two of them! I feel like the first stone has better clarity but the second is a touch more vivid on my screen.

Both the sapphires you posted are lovely in the videos. Can the vendor place them in an empty setting so you can determine how much they might darken when set?

Based on these videos, I'm not too sure about either of these. They're pretty enough, but it's something about the balance between the flashes and the shadows that's making me doubt whether they'll stay distinctly blue in low light.

When looking at a blue sapphire, what I usually want to see is an overall blue colour to the stone where even the dark areas are distinctly blue.

Check this pair of supposedly matched sapphires, although I don't see them as matched at all:

The one on the left has both the brighter blue flashes, and the darker blue areas in shadow. The one on the right has bright blue flashes, and the dark areas are just black. Don't ask me why the vendor matched them when they look so different from each other, but they serve well to illustrate what I'm trying to convey.

The first stone you posted looks to me like the one on the right. I see too much black. The second one is a bit better, but the cut leaves something to be desired, it's just too little light return when you're looking straight down at it.

Here is another look at stone 2 in what appears to be optimal lighting conditions:

I love the puffy crown of stone 1 and its clarity (stone 2 appears to have some silky inclusion on the left half in the first video), and that the video for stone 1 appears to be in a relatively normal lighting situation, so hopefully it will appear similar in person. But the color of stone 2 draws me in also.

I like the first one with the crown. Keep in mind it’s probably going to darken when you set it.

You should check the sellers who stock the gem2000 catalogue -- just because it helps for a price benchmark and sometimes the stones pop up again

Can search it here

For reference this is the catalogue-- but Gem2000 only sells to trade customers usually so you have to go through a jeweler to purchase off it

These are sellers who use this catalogue
