Hi ! This e-ring is on the horizon:

setting: 17248P
http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/Engagement-Rings/Solitaire/Platinum-Bezel-Solitaire-Engagement-Ring-Asscher-Center-item-3256

Stone is an Asscher:
GIA cert
stone: 1.51carat
E
SI1
crown 12%
Depth %:67.40
Girdle: Slightly Thick-Thick
Table %:63.00
Culet:- none
Polish:Excellent
Symmetry:Excellent
Fluorescence:None
L/W/D: 6.32*6.32*4.26

supposedly according to SA is "eye clean"

Here is link to the stone:
http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/Asscher-cut/1.51-carat-E-color-SI1-clarity-sku-173354

I wanted to purchase to get engaged on VDay 2/14, so I pulled trigger w/o an ASET. SA assured me it was an exceptional stone. I figure that with 60-day return if not happy, can try again.

Do you think in general this was a good choice? The stone was 11,500, and I got a PS discount of 580 :)
Total ring cost $12,400.

I'd also love suggestions on a wedding band! I am thinking eternity; What do you think would look best size-wize?

I have a size 6 3/4 finger :)

Thanks ! Jennifer

JA doesn't keep the photos up once a diamond is sold so your link is a blank page. I am not an expert but I think many on here will cringe a bit at the thought of buying a step cut without reveiwing an ASET first. A stones performance can be predicted by an ASET and it would have only added 3 days to your transaction. Not trying to make you feel bad, just a word of caution.

Post many pics when you receive your ring. If you want a critique of performance at that point PS step cut aficionados will help you.
I love the setting you chose. One of my absolute favorites!!!

I can't see the diamond but I absolutely love the setting. I think you are right about the eternity band, that would be stunning. Well actually any band with a little bling could work I think. Congrats! Can't wait to see pictures when it's done!

Well, the diamond page is there for me! I also would not buy without an ASET but it looks like it is nicely cut. I personally couldn't do SI1 in an asscher and I am concerned about the inclusions under the table.

I think the setting is lovely.

As for the wedding band, I think the most perfect would be a channel set asscher band. The Facets Collection carries them but their site is down right now. I got this picture off FaceBook so you can see the band.

Okay the diamond page is back up. A couple of hrs ago it was blank. I do think the cut looks very nice. Did the gemoligist say it is eye clean?

Also I love the band DS suggested!!! It would be perfect!

I'm no expert on asschers but it looks beautiful from the video. And bezel settings are my favorite for asschers and I love the setting you decided on

I think this band would look great with it but I'm not sure if its still available (you could always contact the vendor):

I also really like DS's suggestion - a asscher (or carre cut) channel eternity band.

@ woofmama: yes, they say it is "eye clean" and a "remarkable stone."
"fingers crossed"

Thanks so much for all the comments and feedback! I will definitely post photos.
I really think it's going to be just exactly what I want.

Re: Thoughts/Opinions on this Asscher and setting combo plea

I would never purchase without an ASET. Why risk it on such an expensive stone and one that matters a lot? I am also sensitive to inclusions and spotted the white dot close to the center right away. I've seen stones that have a lot of potential in the picture but the ASET turned out to be disappointing. Unless your eyes are trained, how do you know if you could have done better?

Re: Thoughts/Opinions on this Asscher and setting combo plea

@Chrono: Yes I know we have been impetuous. Yet, I think the stone has potential, and was happy to hear at least a few agree it might be possible ! We have very good reasons for rushing the engagement date; we had to pull the trigger, and so after taking in the comments we took a chance on this stone. It's a safe bet since it's always returnable. And at least the "announcement" will be done properly. Makes no sense to some I'm sure. Anyway, it could be worse! Thanks to PSers I avoided a not-so-hot looking EC! With this post, I was trying to get general feedback from those who know more than me on this one. Yes of course, I was hoping for positive comments lol! AI really appreciate all the comments and am learning from them all. I'm amazed at how much I"ve learned in just a short time. The depth and breadth of PSers on topic is amazing! Very happy I stumbled onto this site. Can't wait to post the actual ring, and get the feedback! thanks!

Oh, did I mention, I learned about ASETs about, two days ago lol? I did contact JA and they said that they could run the ASET but that I would not get the ring by 2/14, the date we need it, so... therein lies the reason for the stab in the dark. Come on, 7! lol

Good luck!!! How exciting. You'll know as soon as you SEE the ring whether this diamond is a keeper or not.

We always say that the final judgement (after all of the data gathering & analysis, etc etc) has to be made by the owner's eyes, so I'm looking forward to hearing how everything goes on the 14th and whether the ring is everything you'd hoped!!
