Hey folks,

Please excuse the non-exciting photos - I''ve been waiting for a while for the weather to improve, but doesn''t look like it''s happening any time soon

So, here are some inside pics of:

Barry B Aqua, 7.5x6.5, 1.43ct

And lastly, just came today - blue topaz, 10mm square emerald cut, ~6cts, cut by Lisa Elser:

All three together..
(I thought it interesting the topaz and aqua are literally the very same colour; well, they are IRL)

Nice stones, especially the blue-green one!

They''re so pretty AJ! I love blues and greens, and the look of Barry''s supernovas...I was really admiring the tourmaline and aqua you picked from Barry''s drop at the start of the month....very nice selections!

Do you have any plans for them?

They are lovely. Love the tourmaline!

Thanks ma re and kribbie!

Hiya BA, how''s things?
Cheers hon - yeah I''m on a real blue kick at the moment (clearly!) -
tbh, I haven''t completely decided about the Barry stones yet - most likely I will
keep the tourm and send back the aqua. It''s a lovely cut and of course colour,
but I''m looking to invest my $ in something a lil larger..

With the topaz, I bought it as kind of an "experiment" stone, to see what I thought of that size of gem and style of cut in person, before potentially committing to one in a more valuable material..
Turns out, I like this stone alot in person - the colour, sparkle and cutting are all very pretty. I''m thinking I will set it eventually in a simple sterling setting from JKT - I''m not sure if my short fingers can pull off 10mm, but I can certainly try right ?

Hi AJ
The topaz will look good in a JKT setting I think --- I''m sure you could pull of the 10mm stone it just looks big next to the other stones - but by itself in a nice JKT silver setting it will just look

good i think

Ahh I love the look of the barry stones -- but I hear you about wanting something bigger, I have a few stones in a box that I haven''t set because they''re not that big and I think these days I want better finger coverage from my stones...

Well I look forward to seeing what you end up doing -- you have great taste in jewellery

The aquamarine must be well coloured if it can pass off as a topaz. I also like the cutting on the topaz but the size’s going to be a challenge should you decide to set it. The blue green tourmaline from Barry is no slouch either in the supernova cut.

Just gorgeous aj, as usual! You have the most amazing taste and eye for these things. That green is sensational!!

Great new stones.

As usual, Barry doesn''t disappoint! and I''m really digging the blue topaz, the cut is really fun!

Gorgeous stones, arjunajane - usually when people post several stones, I''m only drawn to one of them, but I actually like all three of yours. That blue-green tourm is really pretty, and not a color I see very often - just yummy. And if that blue topaz doesn''t cure any colored stone shrinkage syndrome, I don''t know what will!

Great stones! The colors are amazing!

Hey Chrono,
I''d actually appreciate some input on this. Yes, the aqua and the topaz are *exactly* the same colour IRL - here is another pic of them together. If it makes any difference, it is natural topaz that has been electron bombarded, but not irradiated.

Please excuse my ignorance, but are you saying this is a rather good aqua then, considering? As in, even if I have no plans for setting it atm, it may be worth to keep it..?
I must admit, I do like the aqua - however, it does have what I believe is a small tilt window - but I understand this is typical for beryl? The centre also goes a lil dark in low lighting, but lights up and sparkles nicely in indirect sun.
I wonder whether these matters would be "cured" by setting..?

Thankyou everyone for your comments!
I''ll have to pop back later,
as I just nicked the computer off Fi for 5mins and he would like it back to finish his work - so I do have to concede importance over gems (at least pretend to)

AJ, you take the most gorgeous pics! You would never know that it was stormy/not sunny out with the amazing colour and brightness of those stones!

I LOVE the blue green and your GIANT square baguette!

Well, nowdays many aquas are rather pale when compared to blue topaz, but it''s also true that not all topaz is the same shade. For instance, those lightest of them all (sky blue topaz) are not an unusual shade for aquas, but swiss or london blue, that''s another story. So I''d say you have a pretty good aqua at hand, not quite as deep as they get or of an incredible size, but certainly worth keeping (if you like it and would like to set it).

Just lovely new stones! I think the BT will be a fun ring to wear in a JKT setting!!

I too like all three of the stones. Thanks for taking such good photos, I can really see how Barry''s ovals look!

Whatever you decide to do with them the stones are lovely, which is a good start. Congrats!

Beautiful stones AJ, love them.
