Three Stone Diamond Ring (Diamond Size Difference)

How accurate is the colour of your yellow green pear? I also like a more blush pink pear sides.

Hard to say. I purchased it from a diamond company with very good reputation (I rate them to be of Leibish & Co., standard). I will have to send it to GIA myself. And I'm actually reciving the diamond from Israel today. I know it's 100% natural. But I do not know if the diamond will be graded Intense or Vivid. I purchased two green diamonds from them.

I personally like the orange and green. How about a nice intense pink pair? I think pink and green look awesome together.

Left = Fancy VIVID Purplish Pink
Right = Fancy INTENSE Pink

Must say the left one looks best. I think it has something to do with the Purplish undertone as well as it's a very saturated color.

the color of pinks on the right look more like a fancy deep pink or even brownish pink. A more true intense pink would look much better, IMHO. Please post actual pics of your yellow/green diamond when you have it in hand. Also, does it have fluorescence?

Just looking out for you:
I'm surprised that you have to send the stone to GIA yourself, given that you said the vendor is reputable. Lab memos can take several weeks to complete.
1. What happens if the stone isn't as represented? What recourse do you have?
2. What if the stone gets damaged enroute or goes missing (rare but it happens)? Will the vendor accept the stone back and refund all your money?
3. If you don't know if it is untreated nor the level of saturation (intense, vivid or whatever), how do you know if you paid a fair price?

That aside, I second that pictures of the actual FCD, even the vendor's picture, would be most helpful to find the matching sides.

Yes, but without a GIA report = cheaper diamond. I find this to be a very common procedure in quite many diamond store's. For example Langerman-Diamonds offers 2 carats+ Pink rough untreated diamonds of a clarity VS for only $6,000 but if you look at their finished cut products with GIA reports, you can take those $6,000 x 10 for a Pink diamond of approx. 1 carat.

1. When I send the diamond to GIA and if it doesn't match their description = 100% Money Back.
2. Answer is yes.
3. I know it's untreated as they are very reputable and wouldn't cheat me as a customer. As well as I'm a returning customer and are very pleased with my other purchases. Even if the diamond is graded only Fancy Greenish Yellow I've got a very great deal. I can upload GIA report when available. :)

A 2 carat piece of rough will end up possibly being a 0.5 ct diamond at best case. So your comparison to a 1 ct pink diamond is inaccurate.

As long as you have those policies in writing you are fine. I wondered because the vendor stands to make more money selling the diamond with proven stats rather than guesstimates. I know of no vendor who accepts a damaged stone back for a full refund or will refund your money when a diamond is lost enroute that the customer has sent off themselves. It is always covered when the vendor sends the stone off to the lab themselves.

Looking forward to the results!

Yes, I'm aware of that as well. The insurance will cover the loss/damage. :) I purchased 2 Green diamonds from them, so I will post reports for both of them when available.

Well, it could be my monitor- plus there are many shades within fancy intense pink. Here's another question for you- if you go with pink diamonds as side stones will you be using any rose gold around them or would they be set in the same white gold or platinum as the rest of the ring? If they will be in white metal they will look much, much lighter than just looking at them not set. In that case- you would be safer going with the stronger coloration of the purplish pinks or intense pinks like the ones you've shown as they will look lighter when set.

I'm aware of that rose gold would "enhance" both the green color (because red is opposite of green) as well as rose gold would intensify the pink side diamonds. Rose gold does also suit my skin color very well. Only downside is that it doesn't fit with anything else I got (clothes, jewelry, etc.). So then I wont be able to wear the ring on a daily basis. But yes, rose gold has been on my mind for sure. And mixing two different gold types like white and rose (like rose around the side diamonds only), I personally do not like that.

No, I think you are misunderstanding what I'm saying. I read your post earlier when saying you wanted white metal. My point was that if the whole ring will be in white metal (as opposed to using rose gold just around the pink diamonds and white everywhere else) the pink diamonds lose quite a bit of color in white. An easy thing to look at is Tiffany's website. If you look at the jewelry with pink diamonds almost all have thin rose gold bezels or at least rose gold prongs. If you set the same pink diamond in a setting with no rose gold around it then it will look much, much lighter. So if your setting is ALL white metal, pick pink diamonds in a stronger color as they will look lighter when they are set. I am not trying to talk you into a rose gold setting (even though they are my favorite) ;)

No, I did understand what you ment ;) "And mixing two different gold types like white and rose (like rose around the side diamonds only), I personally do not like that. "

She is not asking you to mix metal colours; she is asking that you consider selecting pink diamonds with stronger saturation because it will look paler once set in a white coloured metal.

Sorry, then I misunderstod her. I did think she ment something like this (rose around the side diamonds).

pink_radiant_cut_diamond_ring_in_rose_gold_setting.jpg

That is the gist of the idea. Setting it in rose gold amps up the pink colour of the FCD but if you put the same pink FCD in platinum or white gold, it will look less saturated. Therefore, if you like the look of an intense pink, you might want to consider shopping for a vivid pink because once set in a white metal, it'll lose some colour and will be mistaken for an intense pink.

Yes, I did understand that one. :) But if choosing platinum over white gold as platinum got a more "frosted" (grayish) look to it. Do you think it would make the Vivid Pink appear brighter than white gold would?

Unfortunately, no, because the difference is too subtle.

Okay. Then I might go for Vivid Purplish Pink. I will also post pictures of the two green diamonds later today.

PinkJewel,
You are welcome. I have those days too where I thought I was clear but clearly I wasn't.

I'm extremely happy with my purchase! :D Round approx. SI2, Pear approx. I1. The pear has a underlying "mint green" tone and it has a strong yellow fluor. The round has no fluor at all.

You are planning to use the pear on the right, correct?

Yes. And after actually seing it I think it would be best with white diamonds only and white gold or platinum because the color really stands out!
