Hi Maddie,
Today at spin class I rode by a woman who has a large princess cut in an x prong or similar setting in plat. She had a gorgeous thin princess cut eternity band. It seemed to be shared prong - was definitely not channel set. It looked fantastic! Couldn''t have been more than 2 mm. I recommend trying something like that! I was going to ask her if she had any trouble with it sitting flush, but she was in a hurry.
I just sent a link to something similar from signed pieces to my husband. HINT!
This woman was my jewelry hero - she had the most gorgeous stuff on and all completley my taste! Not only the wedding set, but she had a tiffany atlas or similar RHR, and a bezel set solitaire diamond pendent. Wow! She said she had been admiring my rings and the tiffany silver stuff that I had on. I have found my jewelry soulmate!
Good luck with your decision!
Gail

Bump-
Maddie, just wondering what you decided on and if you got it yet!

Hi Gail,

We''re still debating! For some reason we are having trouble finding a store that has both settings in at the same time so that we can truly compare. And I am having a very hard time deciding which I like better. I know my fiancee to be prefers the three stone look, but I''m definitely worried about what to wear with it as a band. I have always been in love with the x prong, but I think the three stone may look a little bit better on my hands. I have small fingers and hands and the three stone with the thin band seems a little more flattering. I''m not sure if it''s too much bling for every day, though. And a three stone would be a great anniversary ring!

I am so girly about this, it is really killing me!

I voted solitaire. I''m more traditional that way. I would like the solitaire for an e-ring and then the 3 stone for an anniversary.

I definitely don''t think a 3 stone is too much bling for everyday. Maybe if the center was a 3ct and you had 1ct sides...

It sounds like you are leaning toward the solitaire; you said yourself that the 3 stone would be a great anniversary ring.

I have a solitaire, and I am waiting for my 3 stone ring to be finished. Since I have jumbo size 6 fingers, I found that having side stones was more flattering for me than having one stone just in the center. I will probably switch off between the solitaire + eternity band and the 3 stone ring.

In the end you have to be the one to love it. It''s nice that your BF likes the 3 stone, but YOU"RE the one that has to wear it.

I voted for the 3-stone.

I had a similar difficulty when choosing my engagement rings. Originally I wanted to go for the largest, highest quality stone I could get, in a simple platinum setting. I was telling myself that "eventually" I would upgrade to a setting with a halo. But then after some soul-searching I realized that it was kind of sad to be planning on changing my e-ring. I felt like I would always look at the ring and imagine it looking different. So I decided to sacrifice just a little bit on the size and color of the center stone, and get my dream setting. Once I finally saw the ring in real life I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I made the right decision. I can''t imagine ever wanting to change anything about this ring!

Pebbles - I know exactly what you mean by the three stone looking more flattering. I kind of feel the same way. Unless we go with a larger center stone than we planned on the solitaire, the three stone looks like ''more diamond.'' :) Not in a bad way!

Pebbles -

Sorry, one more quick question. May I ask what size stones you are planning on putting into your three stone ring? That is a hot subject of debate for us too. Thanks!

My 3 stone has a 1.5 center with 2 -.5 ct sapphire pears. I have a solitaire and the 3 stone. I love them both but my favorite is definately the 3 stone.

Thanks WTNLVR - Have you posted any pics of your three stone somewhere? I looked but couldn''t find any. I would LOVE to see it, it sounds gorgeous!

My center is a 1.04ct round and each side stone is .20ct. I am getting this Scott Kay 3 stone ring.

Maddie, don''t ever say a three stone would be too much bling!

hehe

I agree with Pebbles that it is great that your BF likes the three stone, but you have to look at this ring on your hand and wear it for years to come

In some of your posts I sense you really want the solitaire, and in others I sense it''s the three stone! LOL It would be fantastic if you could either find a store with both settings or find two stores that will let you take a picture of it on your hand so you can reference both later to compare.

Just take your time so you know you make the right decision!

or some type of locking attachment that would convert a solitaire into a three stone ring, for when you are feeling "blingy"

Here is a pic of my 3-stone. I just tend to like side stones. I think it''s just individual preference.

I agree that it is all about individual preference! If the 3 stone looks better on your hand, maybe that is your answer!
I''m a solitaire girl myself, just because always growing up I admired my mom''s solitaire and couldn''t wait til I had one of my very own... I like how it lets the stone take center stage. But truly, the 3 stone is also a very classy look that will probably never go out of style.
That idea someone had about a wrap type thing that would make a solitaire convert into a 3 stone would be really neat! Obviously, not just any old wrap (not 80s!) but I bet a fine jeweler could make you a really neat one that would attach and look seamless. Then you would have the best of both worlds, although probably not from vatche.
I''m surprised that your local jewelers don''t carry both vatche settings! That is too bad, because I''m sure if you saw them side by side you''d have more clarity.
I think you can''t go wrong either way!! Good luck and keep us "posted," pun intended! :)
