I'm pretty sure there is a thread somewhere but Tapatalk is not cooperating! If someone could link it I would appreciate it.

I'm looking for the one that showed different sizes of stones, and the proportions.
I'm looking for AVC's which are not round( duh) but the mm will work sort of.

DH asked me for an anniversary suggestion, so I started trolling GOG. I emailed Marie and I'm waiting to hear from her.

I would love a 7mm center with 5mm sides but unless I won the Powerball, I'm looking at a smaller ring.
I really do love rose gold so I think lower colors would work well.
I also asked Marie what was the deal with the stones called Premium? They look really pretty . Any one know?
Like this one.

Re: Three stone proportions?

I know Jon looks at all the stones he is considering for AVC designation, and my guess is there was something that wasn't quite up to snuff to qualify it as an AV. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but it may just not have the "look" he's going for or a proportion may be off, etc. Like the difference between a WF ACA and an Expert Selection - the ES may have missed ACA by a hair, and they are no less beautiful and still look gorgeous.

I love a 1:2:1 ratio myself, each side being half the carat weight of the centre.[/quote]

I like this porportiion also.
I have my grandmother's 3 stone and it's always been hard to beat with great coverage, but very elegant.
It's approx 1ct center with two .5ct sides - all OECs. The chunky plat. fishtail settining also adds heft and a more squared off look that I like. I'm about a size 6.75...not sure how much bigger I could go on stones and still have a comfortable fit.

That's the ratio I like best too

Re: Three stone proportions?

Some of the premium stones are just antique style cushions or antique cushions that are are not the stones he has cut for the August Vintage line. But I suppose some could be stones that he had cut but just didn't meet the cut requirements for AVC.

Re: Three stone proportions?

I like that chart - thanks for discovering the link!

My 3 stone is w princess stones and they are 1:2:1 as well and IMO, is the perfect balance for what *I* was looking for. I also had the advantage of already owning the centre stone.

Good like Elisateach - that will be a beautiful anniversary gift, especially in your beloved RG!! I think it looks perfect on your skin -keep it up!!

Re: Three stone proportions?

i prefer about a 70-75 % ... i find it has a way of making the side stones look substantial yet distinctly smaller than the center.
