Three stone ring owners: What did you do for your wedding ring? Any V-shaped rings out there?

I have a very low-set 3 stone platinum engagement ring, and I wanted to custom make a V-shaped wedding ring with a wide enough V so that it doesn't touch the prongs on any of the 3 diamonds. I shared my vision with a jewelry maker, and he advised against a V-shaped wedding ring because he said they don't have structural integrity. My questions for all of you:

(1) Does anyone have a V-shaped wedding ring? Does it seem sturdy?
(2) If I go with a "straight" wedding ring, how do you recommend I keep my 3-stone prongs safe?
(3) Does anyone recommend getting a very soft-metal for a spacer ring (which will definitely be destroyed by the platinum prongs)?

My fiance doesn't like the idea of not wearing a wedding ring, so that's not an option.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

I wear a straight ring with my 3 stone. The basket portion of mine is a square. I definitely use a spacer. But not as much for my prongs sake as for the beautiful carved band my husband bought me's sake. I don't want my prongs to ruin that! Lmao. My only thing about a spacer is I have to be careful that my ring doesn't roll over it. So my spacer needs to have some height to it and also be thin so its not super visible between my rings. I have one more spacer style I will probably try out later this year that has more height and is still 1mm width. So far the height of my 1.5 mm ring is good but it's too thick and visible. Plus it makes the set take up too much of my short finger. The 1mm spacer works better but gets rolled over top of by the 3 stone.

I have a three stone ring and wear a channel set band with it. The two metal bands touch but not diamonds to metal.A7C6C1F1-D42C-4677-A16C-FBC71136EA52.jpeg

Without pictures it's hard to help

i love those v / wishbone/ chevron bands
I'd love to see some too

last time i asked i dont think i got a single picture

V and U shaped bands are great alternatives. They are very versatile. Sometimes they are called chevron or nesting bands.
If made correctly there should be no problem with integrity. It's just a style.
1-1.5 mm spacers can be used when you want to be unobtrusive.
* just to illustrate some of the stylings, they are limitless!
*I only have straight bands I use as spacers at the moment. I also personally love a gap.

I wear a channel set band. There’s no need for a spacer with them so I wear them a lot. I love a gap too. If I want more bling I wear a chainsaw eternity first..then the channel set band next to the three stone. I can’t show you now because it’s summer and my fingers are swollen. I can only wear two bands until it’s cooler…2AF436CE-8AD7-4521-A91A-5FD4F97709C4.jpeg

Yours is one of my all time favorites!!!!

Oh, thank you! I have enjoyed it. I really didn’t care for channel set bands until I tried this one on at Tiffany’s. It just worked and I do not have to worry about either ring harming the other and of course don’t need a spacer. It was a good solution for me!

MissGotRocks, It's perfect!

Thank you all for the responses and beautiful pictures!!

Looks like metal on metal is fine? I thought that would dent or wear away at each other, but sounds like only diamond on metal is the problem?

By the way @MissGotRocks it's great to have you here since your ring proportions inspired mine :)

Here is the design of mine (as requested @Tayberry ):

And here is what I'm envisioning for a wedding ring (I made this on Photoshop), but the V would probably have to be wider to accommodate my side stones:

I'm guessing the diamonds would be touching my engagement ring, so I'd probably need a spacer if this is the style I go with...

Your ring turned out beautifully! I like the way it incorporates six prongs on the center stone and the side stones are dropped down low enough so that prongs on both sides of the center and side don’t interfere with each other.

Are all three stones lab grown?

This was my three stone. I loved the combo. The donuts under the stones made the wedding band sit out a little - but only very minimally, and it was just enough to be able to see the band - without seeing any gap. I loved the combo.

@mrs-b Are you going to wear a band with Beloved now that she’s reset into a three stone?

A photo from today. My new Beloved x 3. I like it with this band, but might like it better with a different band I have, or the Beloved wedder I have. We'll see.

You mean the wedding band’s design draft is made by yourself? That’s beautiful!

I like the band with Beloved because it shows you’re married..but doesn’t detract from her. It looks like it’s peaking out to say, “I’m married!”. :kiss2:
