I''m glad that you are able to find comfort in what you think in your heart may have happened ... but I still send along my wishes that he return to you safely.

I''m sorry to hear about this, storm.

Storm, as Kaleigh said too, add me to the list of those heartbroken over this whole situation....

So sorry to hear, keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Aw, I am truely sorry about this. I hope that you are able to be at peace in what you feel happened to your beloved Tiger.

Strm, Tiger sounds like a very special dog.

Still thinking about Tiger...

So sorry to hear of your loss Storm. My thoughts are with you.

Storm, I''m so sorry to read about your Tiger.

Heart hurting for you...

Strm, I''m so sorry. I have to say that I''m still holding out for good news...even though there probably isn''t much hope left. I''m an optimist, though. I wish I could come up there and help you look for your dear Tiger.

Strm - I''m sorry. My heart hurts for you.
If Tiger is gone, I bet he''s looking down on you from heaven ... you now have an angel if you didn''t before.
Take care.

Sorry to hear about your dog. It is hard not having resolution, but it sounds like you are at peace with it.

Tiger kind of looks like my old dog, Betty who was also a chow mix. They make great dogs.

He was 17 years old.
The life expectancy for his type is 12 years so he did get 5 extra good years.
He was a sweet dog :}
very friendly and nice.

wishing you peace at this time and I am so sorry.

"Just this side of Heaven is a place called The Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill or old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and look into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling to each other in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...."

thank you Skippy!

I''m so sorry.

17 years! He is off the charts!

My family''s dog was a large black lab mix. He was 15 years old, and the vet said he was "off the charts" for his size/age. One Easter morning he scratched to be let outside. But they didn''t see him the the backyard and with people coming and going we thought he had gotten out of the house. But they checked the backyard one more time, and finally noticed him; he had quietly curled up under the shade of a tree and had peacefully passed away.

Thanks everyone.

Yea 17 is off the charts the vet couldn''t believe it when year after year he came back in for his shots.
Until he blew out his knee the only health problems he had was his ears which he had problems with since birth, every year they would have to knock him out and clean them.
Once the knee went his kidneys started acting up.
But he got around fine on 3 legs and the pills mostly kept the kidney problem to a min.
Then he went deaf but he would still chase the cats around on 3 legs and deaf even 3-4 months ago.
Around that time he started losing a ton of weight and it was downhill from there 3 times we thought we might have to do right by him and put him down but he bounced back.
I think this time he knew he wasn''t going to bounce back.

I''m so sorry, Storm.

My little sweet angel doggie passed away almost 3 years ago this July (4 days after my birthday). She was 16, we grew up together. It is very hard even still, but the memories of our time together are what I hold dearest to my heart.

My condolences, Storm.

Oh strm...I''m sorry. My prayers go out to you.

no news today

I believe in my heart that he left the pack to pass away.
It fits his nature and how he lived.
He always lived life by his terms only giving in to his pack when he had too.
I believe he passed on in the same way.
I am sad but also happy that he is at peace.
Storm,

the first time i read your post, this was my thought. i kept checking this thread but deep in my heart i''ve thought he did what he needed to do.......as you are, i am sad for you but i''m glad he''s at peace.

I''m sorry, Storm, my deepest condolences.

17 is amazing. I just want you to know that you telling that has given me hope that maybe our dogs will have longer lives...they are beagles and are only expected to live to be 12-13. DH and I sometimes talk about what we will do when they die and how we will handle things and we get so sad.

Your Tiger sounds like a wonderful dog and companion, I love to hear stories of people''s pets and how great they are/were. when I was a girl I used to write books on construction paper about all the farm animals and pets I had come to know and love, cows, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, etc. I love the Rainbow Bridge poem Skippy posted for you, I can''t read it without crying but it is such a comforting poem. I have posted it before here when people have lost pets, I can never read it myself though.

I am glad Wifey2Be will be visiting you soon and bringing comfort to you. In the meantime, take care of yourself.

aww strmrdr I''m so sorry to hear about what happened with your precious Tiger.... You are in my thoughts.
((hugs))
