Hey Sweetpea,

We seem to have missed each other somehow! While I was waiting, it occurred to me that there are 2 Starbucks on Liberty. I was at the one at Liberty and Main, but there is another one a few blocks away at Liberty and State. I wonder if you were at that one instead (there's a movie theater, Urban Outfitters, and Borders right nearby)? I actually walked down there to look for you, but it was 2:40 by then.

Anyway, sorry for the mixup. Hopefully we can reschedule sometime soon!
oh no, I was at the one near the urban outfitters--my FI dropped me off there at 2 and I waited till 2:30...I had the streets confused : ( we'll have to reschedule, maybe for drinks this week or try coffee again next weekend! It's totally my fault, I'm sorry I messed it up : (

no worries, you are new in town and it was an easy mistake to make. i am pretty busy this week but i could either meet up for a drink on tuesday evening or we could try again on sunday. do either of those work for you?

Sunday would work for me! I''ll be sure to be at the right one this time! Same time??

YAY!! Just got my first interview lined up for next Tues! It''s for science writing and I am so excited, this is exactly what I want to be doing! Hopefully it''ll work out...I''ve heard back from one other company who said they''d be in contact shortly (the CEO said this today) so hopefully I''ll have another soon...but not before my haircut on Friday haha!!!

Congratulations on the interview, Sweet Pea! I have my fingers crossed for you.

I''m sorry that I didn''t show up either on Sunday. I got completely bogged down with work and didn''t feel that I really had time to leave the house. This weekend looks a bit more promising though.

congrats on the interview, sp!

so we are on for this sunday. 2:00 again? let''s actually meet at the starbucks you were at last weekend (the one by urban outfitters) since it''s bigger and we''ll have a better chance of finding somewhere to sit. does that sound ok?

Sounds great...I''ll try to make it over a bit early to scout a table and I''ll wear my new cute black with white dots headband (ok I know cheesy, but I love it haha)...I''m so tempted to go to UO and get those skinny jeans to wear with boots---I hear uggs are actually popular here! In boston they kinda are, but you get made fun of more than anything else haha

BUMP for shortblonde and blenheim

I''ll tell you my experience. I have gotten two SOLID job offers in the 4 weeks since I''ve been here. Offer yourself out as a temp for whatever you do. Sign up with a staffing agency and start working-- you''ll make money, and contacts so that you can network... AND you won''t stress all day long about the job. Proffesional organizations are good too... but when you don''t have a job-- it''s hard to find a job. But the minute you''ve got one-- you''re desirable.

haha, wearing uggs here won''t get you in with the cool kids anymore, but they are so warm and comfy in the snowy winter that lots of people still wear them!

see you tomorrow.

sweetpea..also try to find out if there are specific industry job email groups you can belong to via Yahoo or other internet sites. there is one that i belong to for sales and marketing in my local area, and there are a ton of jobs that come through there that never make it onto monster or other job sites. the reason is because this email list is HUGE and companies only have to pay a small amount to advertise vs with monster or whatever it costs much more. plus the kind of candidates they get from the email list is typically enough to fill a position. i have been on this list for about 5 years and i never go off of it, i just always stay on it and check out what is going on out in the industry. and it comes in handy when i need it.

i just started looking for a new gig a few weeks ago in a somewhat active job search (aka i am still at my old company, just seeing what was out there), using monster, dice.com for tech jobs, a few other websites, some specific marketing consulting firms, and the email list along with craigslist etc. i just landed a job last week that i found on that email list, it was a whirlwind interview and acceptance process, and it was just the right place, right time, right person for the gig kinda thing. they never even listed the job elsewhere. so the more you spread yourself out there and specifically on lists or website that cater to your industry, the better it goes IMO.

when the right fit comes, you will know and then the wait will be that much more worth it!! keep your chin up! and the flower shop job sounds fun and $$ is good too!! i agree that if you can get out and even do temp work or whatever, keep your mind busy and it does put you in front of people. or maybe go to the place where you'd like to work and offer to volunteer for a few hours a week. start making some contacts. good luck!!

Congrats on your interview! keeping fingers crossed.

Thanks for the tip Mara! I''m only on one email group (kind of somehow stumbled upon it) but I''ll look into finding more.

I''m going to try and look up local companies as well and visit their webpages and hopefully something will pan out soon!

Sounds great, Sweet Pea! I have no idea what I''m wearing tomorrow yet, but I have reddish hair and I''m pretty pale.

Maybe I will look into contract work a bit as well...I have to branch out from Monster.com and Careerbuilder I think...

OK it is so feast or famine...now I''ve got 4 interviews in 2 days...one is a second interview which I''m excited about but the company is great but does not offer any benefits for 6 months...so I''d basically have to buy my own ins most likely b/c going 6 mos without is scary! I wish I could at least get my 401K rolled over, but we''ll see if I can negotiate to 3 months maybe...

Three are tomorrow! One I may not go to though, it''s kinda far (45-50 min drive) from where I live and I used to make that kinda commute before and it was awful...well not awful but not fun. I really want to do 1/2 hour max. One is only 10 mins from where I live!

Good luck tomorrow sweetpea!!!

Thanks Kaleigh!!

One down, 2 more to go for today...I dont think I'd accept the 2nd one though b/c it's a 45 min drive without traffic, but I may as well go b/c if it's really great I may reconsider...I really want to keep the commute to 1/2 hour if possible.

Tomorrow I have a 2nd interview at thsi one company that seemed pretty good...

Wish me luck!!
