I have never owned an AP. According to the watch enthusiast The trilogy of swiss watches are Patek, AP and Vacheron. I'd prefer German made Lange watches as for swiss made I'd like Pateks, but PP been having quality control problems in the past few yrs. My two PP needed service after two yrs.

I get it now. When my grandparents were alive (g-d rest their souls) they were so incredibly careful with money for themselves. Generous to a fault with us but for them? Nothing. I understand it on a much deeper level now.
