Ok, might be some questions a few of you may find silly....who here wears toe rings? What kind of metal? On which toes? Do they have diamonds?

Several years ago my baby brother bought me a 9ct gold toe ring with his own money! He must have been all of 8 or 9 at the time, so naturally I thought it was incredibly sweet. :)

I've never worn it, though. Partly because I don't like the way 9ct yellow gold looks on me but mostly because I'm really self-conscious about my feet!

I can't wait to see what pops up in this thread!

Aww, Trekkie, how cute

I wear one on each foot, as of my wedding on Sept 5th! Mine are 14k wg, each with 6 melee totalling 10pts. I wear them as substitutes for the traditional silver 'metti'. I do take them off before going to the gym, but that's about it.

Yssie, could you kindly explain metti? Do you still wear them with shoes on?

In Hindu culture, they're silver toerings that married women traditionally wear on the middle toe of both feet to aid in reproductive health and conception - the husband puts them on during the wedding ceremony and they're not taken off (my mum has worn hers all day, every day for 27 years). Silver, because gold is considered too precious to wear below the waist.

I've been taking mine off to do anything athletic though.

Thank you for explaining.

I wear two. One is a two tone gold bypass design with hearts- and the second is a silver with a heart shaped ruby. My daughter
gave me the silver one a couple weeks ago, it was hers and I had admired it for a long time. I have been wearing the other for
about 5 years. I bought it on clearance at Ross-simons for $20.!!! I never take it off. It came off in the pool once, but I was able to
find it. I would love to have one with diamonds though!

I have a 14k (ETA Yellow gold) toe ring. It is the adjustable kind and it is little hearts. I'll see if I can find an image. I want a solid fitted one for the other foot, just have to find something affordable.

I have white gold diamond toe rings, one for each foot. They are eternity and quite thin and are not adjustable. I've had them for ... 6 years now? I love them...now if I could only get them back on.

I have worn toe rings (sterling silver or 14kt WG or YG) since I was 14 years old (I'm from CA originally). However, in June my 3 stone diamond and yellow gold broke (somehow in a swimming pool) and I am in the final stages of acquiring a PLATINUM, diamond channel set toe ring. It is under design right now and I will, of course, post it when it is through. I do not know what the final carat weight will be but probably between .33 and .5 carat. Should be here between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am working with Larry Smith at Maui Toe Rings and he is amazing! You have to contact him for custom work, the stuff on his site is ready-to-buy. All platinum work is custom. http://www.mauitoerings.com/

I also wear eternity style diamond toe rings (channel set) on each foot, similar in style to Mara's except they are yellow gold and slightly larger melee.

I wear them year round, so when winter arrives in New England, they are covered with socks/shoes but still worn.

here's mine... :praise: 1.00 ctw on 14k yg.

So no problems with blistering, even on something that substantial?

I got a .43 ct marquise cut I'm not sure what to do with, and I'm thinking....maybe a toe ring?

Is there a show me the toe rings thread that I haven't found yet?

DF... tell the truth... is that your wife's earring...??

I always think of Mara when I think about beautiful toe rings.. I am still secretly (or.. for the people here not so secretly) wanting the same type. :naughty:

I know when I saw this thread title, I was like ---Mara has some, ask her!!!!
BTW, Mara, I always thought those toe rings were so cool - still do. For some reason
it brings out the inner Hippie in me! ha ha

lol thanks SDL!

Bebe.. diamond toe rings are not just for hippies!! Haha.

I wore mine every day for 4+ years...I go barefoot a lot and am a 'heavy' walker, and even on stone and granite they never chipped or anything. I used to marvel at the quality.

I had to take them off when I was 15w pregnant and I tried to get them back on about 2mo PP but they didn't fit. It's 9mo PP now and I might try soon, I think my feet are pretty much back to normal now that I am back at pre-preg weight. I hope!!!!

Wow....I'm impressed at what substantial toe rings some PS'ers have! But I guess I shouldn't be too surprised :)

I wear a toe ring on each foot 24/7. Mine are only plain jane flat bands made of silver. They are quite beat up since I wear them all the time. The only time they come off is when I sweat them off during some hot yoga sessions.

I think I'd be a bit nervous about getting a true blingy toe ring because I'd be scared to lose it while walking around barefoot in the summer. Or while traipsing across some rocky stream on vacation. I guess I could always take them off for vacation but my little piggie would feel naked without them. Hmmm, this really has got me thinking....I usually don't get tempted by the pendants or bracelets that people post but lo and behold I almost find myslef coveting a blingtastic toe ring (or two).

Ah, seeing these toe rings has made me decide that I do want a marquise toe ring...I have the stone, but how best to set it?

E-W white gold :lickout:

Bezel? Color is a bit low on this one, about a L....should I go for a lower karat white gold so that the stone looks whiter?

Ok, I have been looking for diamond toes rings forever, where are you ladies getting these? How do you know what size to get?

I wear a silver adjustable one right now and have a couple gold ones.

Autumn, re: sizing......I had worn a fitted toe ring for a while (woman at the beach town near where I live sells them in a variety of sizes). However, this ring was thinner than what I expected the finished toe ring to be, so I went to a jewelry store locally and bought an inexpensive gold band in the same approximate width. I started with a size 4 ring and then had it sized down in 1/4 increments until it fit right. Then I provided that ring as a size example for building the diamond rings.

My toerings are oval rather than round - did it take long to get used to the round design?? I just can't imagine wearing a round toering....

Oval? May I see a pic, please?

Heh, it's just a plain silver C-shaped one but it's been bent into an oval... I'll try to get a pic to explain what I mean. :)

Before getting the diamond toe rings I'd been wearing thin silver ones for years. I never removed them. They never came off. I think I considered white gold ones (maybe I even had them, I don't remember) but that is why I knew I'd get use out of the toe rings.

I guess it's like wearing any ring, you aren't used to it at first then you become used to it. My toes are thin so they kind of would spin a little but I needed to get them over the bulb.

Rae... never heard of an oval one! Aren't toes round??

Sirbenson... I had never lost my silver ones (I have a bulb on the end of my toe) so I figured I wouldnt' lose the diamond ones. And I go barefoot a lot and we have wood and tile in our house and never had an issue with them bending, breaking, losing a stone. Quite impressive actually.

re: sizing ... I sent my silver ones to the vendor and had them make them that size.

I had mine made by Whiteflash.
