Considering this for an e-ring: EGL J vvs2. Center stone is 2.79 cts but looks over 3. Very white and sparkly in person, but it is a J. Is it too yellow? I am looking for a larger stone as I have quite long fingers. More pics to follow. Thanks!

If you like it then no its not too yellow. My only concern is, do the side stones match the center? I can't tell from the pics

Edited for spelling.

check the color grade on the side stones... if they're higher than j, they'll make the center stone look more yellow... the side stones need to be 2 shades lower imo... so around k for the side stones...

The only thing I'd say is that an EGL J is likely a GIA L-M. Is the price in line with that? If so, and you're ok with the color, go for it. My sense is that because you're asking about the color, it's bothering you. If that's the case, it's not likely to change over time.....

Good luck with your decision!

It looks really nice on your hand!!! Do YOU like the color?? If the photo is representative, there appears a color difference with the side stones, and the visual contrast is really, really appealing to me!

+1 Really, depends on what your eye likes... :) Go with YOUR gut, and your gut only...

I adore the style of the ring - great choice. I think the fact that you're asking whether the center is too yellow is a sign that it's too yellow for you. It's very hard to tell from the photos but the center does look less white than the sides.

I do feel like I can pick up some yellow in the center stone. And I may be wrong, but I've heard that step cuts show color a little more than brilliant cuts.

Personally, I think it's a beautiful stone! But you have to be honest with yourself about whether you'll be happy with the color.

I'm actually resetting my Ering diamond and my side stones will be 3 colors lower than the center just for some extra pop. hehe..

I'm totally fine with lower colors, and I think it's gorgeous! I'd wear and love the hell out of that ring... But if it'll bug you, there are other stones out there.

I personally don't care for J in a ring. I colour is as low as I can go in a ring. I have studs that are M, but I'm not seeing them all day, so it doesn't bother me as much.

It looks lovely on you but it would bother me, I like my diamonds H and above.

Thanks for all the feedback! Have decided not to purchase- still looking....

I have a 2.52 Emerald cut that is a K (GIA). I really don't see much tint (i.e. yellow) in it at all. My stone is from the 20's - 30's and I really like a little bit of warmth in older stones, it gives the stone even more character. Looks like that is at Langs, right? What color do they think it is (GIA)? They really know their stuff so I would trust their opinion. However, only you can decide if you are comfortable with that color grade.
