I'm comparing apple to banana now. Because, I don't have budget for both of them and I cannot easily return stones to US or Thailand. Could you help me to decide which one of them, or none of them should I go for?

A lot of this comes down to a few questions, namely why are you buying? Do you want a good deal or a fine specimen of its kind? What will you do with it? Wear it or just keep it? I take it the stones have not arrived so you are buying sight unseen.

Both stones have their own pros and cons. Wearability, proof that they are untreated, very deep stones that might be a challenge to wear, accuracy of colour shown, colour shifts, and more.

I should have such a dilemma :rodent:
From these pictures i prefer the emerald....I'm also not into ovals right now. Have fun you little problem solver!

From the photos, I wouldn't buy either. Window in the emerald. The sapphire's pavilion is sort of wonky too & it's pretty dark in tone, might blacken out when set, if that's what you plan to do with it. Certification of lack of treatment by a reputable lab is something I'd require, especially for that kind of money.

Emerald
Cons:
Stone may be much lighter than photo suggests (very light toned emeralds are significantly less expensive per carat)
Off center cutlet
Very small face up for carat weight, as emeralds are not dense stones, and this faces up almost as large as the smaller carat weight sapphire (a much denser stone).
May be a challenge to set properly

Sapphire
Cons:
May be much darker than photo suggests
Has a violet secondary which is a negative to some (not a pure blue)
Off center cutlet
Although cut a little too deep, sapphires are often cut deeper to accentuate sparkle, but in a dark stone, this may not be advantageous. I do like the high crown though.

Both should come with a reputable lab report indicating any and all kinds/levels of treatment.

I would definitely start with finding out the true tone on each, because I suspect they're not truly represented by the photos in question. In the sapphire, I would also ask about the color shift.

So after reading all the replies, I have decided to buy none of them
Thank you everyone for saving my bank account

You are welcome. I sometimes have to ask my gemstone friends this same question when I get carried away with feeling like wanting to buy something which in reality, I know deep down that I won't be satisfied with it in the long run. A good kick in the behind is a good thing once a while. ;))
