total carat weight of this ring

sorry, i know it''s a bad picture. you can''t tell but it''s 3 step cut stones. what are your guesses for the total carat weight? my friends and i are debating!

Can''t see the ring well enough to even begin formulating an educated guesstimate - which would likely be completely erroneous because it isn''t practical to guess total carat weight from a photograph. When meeting with people to re-create a jewelry description for something like an insurance loss, it can take 30 - 45 minutes of setting diamonds on their hands and playing with different types of settings to even get an idea of what the size of the gems ''might have been'' in the lost jewelry item - if all we had to go by was a photograph, I don''t think we''d really be able to formulate any sort of accurate description - sorry
