First of all happy birthday wishes to you Deco! And I am also in the bezel set stud camp. I set my old pair of 1/3 carat each studs in white gold bezels and they look fabulous. I gave them to my daughter when I upgraded and kind of wish I had them back! I had princess cut studs for a while and ended up trading them in for bigger round ones. The square shape just doesn''t look as good on the earlobe in my opinion so I wouldn''t choose the asscher studs.

''Did you guys know that your ears and nose grow for your ENTIRE LIFE? That''s why many old people have huge ears and noses. I mean, ya gotta PLAN for that with more EARRING COVERAGE!!!!

Hmmm I have been telling Greg for years his nose is growing. Now I have proof!

Too bad our ring fingers don''t shrink in old age.

Happy 40th Bday Deco. You don''t look a day over...well 21.

HAHAHAHA!!! Then once your ears get big enough there''s always that second piercing towards the back of the lobe for those tiny starter studs! I have a pair in my second piercing -- I think they are like 5 points a piece???? I never change them because they are the perfect accent for everything else. So Deco, congrats on the birthday and the ear piercing! A whole new world has just opened up to you on the jewelry front. My SIL always wore just her diamond studs or her pearl studs. At 50+ years, she has discovered dangly earrings and she''s discovered FASHION! She''s having so much fun with it and can''t believe she didn''t step into that arena a long time ago.

A few years ago I had my navel pierced. It was so much fun! I really liked it. My husband did not, however, AT ALL. He was totally grossed out and said something to the effect of, if I ever wanted to get lucky again the naval piercing would have to go. So, it went.

HEEEEEE ... I think I have an early hint as to how she feels! When I was cruising e-rings, all of a sudden everywhere I looked I saw E-RINGS!! Never noticed them before & then was hyperfocused on FINGERS. Now, everywhere I look I see EARRINGS.

There's one "fashion" pair I've wanted since *cough* 1987

?? Melanie Mayron of THIRTYSOMETHING wore some silver dangly teardrop thingies in a TV Guide spread and I YEARNED for them.... Tiffany sells a pair to this day, but many versions exist. That will be either the 1st or 2nd

pair I go for. (My photo clipper isn't working right but you probably know the ones I'm talking about ... Elsa Peretti elogated teardrop??)

ETA: Aha!! Found a link!!

deco, this weekend i was just in tiffany''s. saw this exact pair! they are beautiful!! i regret not trying them on...or better yet, buying them!
if you get them, you MUST post pics!!

Deco, I have those earrings...TGuy gave them to me for my birthday last year. Ephemery also has them and loves them. She posted ear shots around here somewhere.

I don''t wear them as often as I should because they are HEAVY. Plus the posts are thick and since I don''t wear earrings that much, they stretch out my holes causing them to getting kind of pussed up and (when I first started wearing them) bloody. Depending on your lobes, they also may be a bit difficult to get on.

Although, I must admit, when I wear them (which is mostly for business), they look fab.

Aha....found emphemery's ear shot...

ETA I know it doesn't look like the same earrings because in the link you posted they look smaller and the back of the post on this ear shot doesn't go down all the way the drop like it does in the link, but according to TGuy, these were the only ones in the store...there was no smaller pair (which I had wanted).

How FUNNY!! They''re just so classic & sculptural ... I can''t believe it''s been TWENTY YEARS since I first spied/coveted them

. Rolling rings, dby necklaces, these ... the Eighties are Back baby! (I just saw jute handbags with leather handles in some online fashion spread ... they can keep THAT trend. Scratchy!) Add-A-Beads anyone?

OOOOh pretty!! Pix!!! Are those the small ones though?? They look a bit longer or bigger than they did in TV Guide 20 years ago (hahahahahahaha)

Sorry to hear that they''re blood/pus inducing though -

. Maybe I''m a masochist!

Interesting. I found this one called "elongated" teardrop in 18K ... that looks more like the *size* of ephemary''s ... but I don''t see it in silver. Mysterious!

Deco I had found the same thing when I was checking these earrings out...so I was sure that the smaller ones must exist. Maybe they do and TGuy couldn''t find them. But the price he paid was the exact same price listed on the "smaller" silver ones, so unless they are going at the same rate...

If the smaller ones exist, let me know....because I still want them!

Hey Deco...now I need YOUR opinion over on the preggo thread in the family forum.

Voting late here, but I''d really go for upgradable stones.

I initially got .39 each ear and thought that was the end of it. Then I found a great pair of .55 each, and those worked out just wonderfully. Couldn''t have gotten into them if I''d been stuck with non-upgradables.

HEY TG COME BACK!!!

Look what I
found today over at Pearlmans for $95 ... looks shorter like the mythical "small" Tiffany ones

I also saw some true "knockoffs" online by searching "tiffany teardrop" ... $29-$99

Also ...

I think I''m not supposed to wear anything but "post" style earrings for the first year so I might be living vicariously through YOUR teardroppy bliss for a while longer

Thanks for the input ALJ .. I've thought about this too ... but I really want bezel set studs, and if the freakin SETTING is $450+ & I wouldn't be able to use it again even if I did upgrade the studs ... aiigh. Seems kinda silly. Empty, ruined bezel settings left over.

I am anxious to check out the Ready Set Go options for bezel studs (if it happens). If they are affordable then I'd just pick a size & stick with it ... and look forward to future, bigger(??) OEC danglers like your beauties!!

ETA: I know yours aren't OECs ... I'm just fantasizing about what I'd pick if my baby bezels were ACAs.

Gotta love clicking on a post and seeing a picture of your own ear jumping off the screen... haha!!
9.gif
I felt a little surge of pride. Then grimaced a bit at the wonkiness of my ear... I actually had surgery on the other one when I was 8 because it stuck out so far.

DH got those for my bday about 2 years ago (maybe 3?) so they may have changed up the sizes since then. They are substantial but fortunately don't bother my ears... so I NEVER take them off. I'm too lazy to change earrings everyday, and they're the only pair I've ever been able to sleep in (comfy 'cause there's no post to poke me in the head all night).

Congrats on your bday piercing, Deco!!!
