I dreamed up a ring -- an oval ruby flanked by two filigree treble clef symbols, in yellow gold:

I sent my simple drawing above and my wild ideas to Michael E., from which he created various 3-D CAD renderings for me to look at. After some changes, the very cool result:

Then came the wax model:

Finally, the ring:

I received the ring a few days ago, and I''m absolutely thrilled with the result! Michael E. was fantastic to work with, responding to all of my questions and requests with great patience. The toughest part was having to rely on pictures until the final step was completed, but everything turned out just beautifully!

can''t see, can''t see!

no pictures of what sounds like a very interesting ring! Only white boxes with red x''s

I can''t see the pictures

. Is it just me? The ring sounds wonderful; I can''t wait to see it.
Please repost if you can. Thanks.

Oh no! I was afraid of this! OK, let me see what I can do.

Looks like I have to attach photos one at a time...

Here''s the initial drawing.

Here''s the CAD rendering.

The wax model:

(The green wax gives the ring a very unique look... I told Michael that we may be working on a ring with green gold next.

Very cool!! I love how you incorporated the music with the ruby!!

That''s a really neat ring. Better a treble clef than an alto, tenor, or bass clef eh?

Very nice! I really enjoy seeing unique jewelry that people have had made. Wear it often!

I agree! You should market it to musicians. You might see it around in a few places, but you would always have the original!!!

Thanks Kaili, Patty, and Kaleigh! I wanted a ring that''s uniquely me, so I incorporated my love of filigree design with my passion for music. I thought about using a heart shaped ruby, but the oval turned out to be a much better choice.

Nothing against the other clefs, but when I played the violin (many moons ago anyway), the treble clef was the register I lived and breathed in. I''m sure you can relate to that!

HI:

Very, very neat! Wonderfully original--congrats.

cheers--Sharon

I appreciate everyone''s compliments! All credits go to Michael E. who helped me to solidify the design based on nothing but a drawing and some nebulous ideas in my head, then did the hard work to put it all together -- all the while having to answer my "what is..." and "what if..." e-mails.

Deb mentioned the idea of marketing the ring to musicians. I''m flattered that you think others would be interested in copying the design! But then again, Michael did such a great job making the ring, why wouldn''t they want one!

As for the requisite handshot, I''ll need to borrow my brother''s digital camera this weekend and take a few hundred practice shots...

When I get a decent looking one, I''ll post it.

Wow, sooo pretty!! As I have quite a passion for music myself, I truly love your ring! It''s similar to a James Avery sterling silver ring that I have, but I think I like it better your way, with the gold and gemstone. Congrats!!!

Oh my, what a great looking ring. It looks fit for Liberace (if he was still around). Michael E was brave to take on board this tricky project, but what a result... Congratulations, it looks great.

Wow! It''s so neat to see the natural progression from your idea, to drawing, wax and finally the finished product!! I guess dream designs really can come true!!

Congrats!

Since I am also a singer...I can totally appreciate your desire to incorporate this into your ring. I think it is beautiful:)My BF wants to make one for me with dragonflies in it. He should get your assistance

HOUMedGal -- Thank you! Do you have a picture/link to the James Avery ring that you have? I''d love to see it! I went to J.A.''s Web site and loved the pieces that I saw. Definitely one site I''m bookmarking to explore later!

MiniMouse -- I''m glad you like the ring. Not sure if Liberace would find this ring flashy enough to fit his flamboyant style though.

Soulsis -- Yay, a fellow singer! I sing mezzo-soprano in a choral group and really enjoy it (easier to hide in a group

). A dragonfly ring would be unique and beautiful! I''m no expert, but I''d be happy to share any knowledge I gained from making my ring.

To everyone else who posted feedback on my ring, I appreciate it!

Gosh I just love that ring-I came up with a very similar design actually and am looking into having it made. I''m divorced and was trying to come up with something to do with my ering stone and have a similar rendition. That''s just beautiful!
