True durability of pave?

I have a three-sided pave ring by Leon. I never planned on wearing it everyday. The pave stones are very small and so perfectly placed I consider it a work of art. I usually wear it when I leave the house dressed nicely but when I am cooking, cleaning, at the gym, etc. I prefer to wear nothing or just a plain band. I reason I upgraded to my beautiful Leon is that I bent the prongs of my original solitar e-ring being way too rough and never taking it off. I live an active life, have 2 kids, a dog, a garden, I cook, and I clean. And I honestly could care less if anyone at the grocery store or PTA meetings see my ring.

But as a newlywed I didn''t ever take my rings off. After 25 years it doesn''t matter to me. I LOVE my Leon and take very good care of it. I have not lost any stones and check them under a lope regualry to see if anything looks off.

That is what I am always so amazed by when I see pictures of his rings! When I''m flipflopping between a 3-sided pave and single shared prong, those pictures draw me back.

How "blingy" are those "very small" stones? I know the Ritani micropave is very subtle while the Simon G is crazy sparkly... how would you define the type of sparkle in your ring?

Sera, all of mine are very playful.

My Leon has never stopped traffic from the glare! There are over 100 pave stones on mine, the tiniest being on the prongs and basket. I wouldn''t describe it as blingy. Some of his designs use larger pave but micro pave is using very small stones.

Leon does not recommend wearing any other ring next to a three-sided pave. If you are thinking of adding a wedding band keep that in mind as you do not want any metal rubbing up against pave.

Thanks for the info, Bisou and Swingirl...
I feel I won''t have to be paranoid about Leon''s quality... and I know the concerns with 3-sided... I''m just so torn... single shared prong bigger diamonds or Leon''s perfect micropave and if so, 1 side? 3 side band with 1 side ering? vice versa? both 1 side? full eternity or 1/2 around? UGH. At LEAST I picked my diamond!

You know what might be kind of fun? (don''t mind me, I''m rather avant-garde lol) but an e-ring either plain solitiare or shared prong or pave on the top only flanked by not one but two TWO sided pave bands. Sure the bands would be a bit odd on their own, but you could wear the two bands together. Kind of like bookends :D

Yeah, I''ve thought of that too; I had seen it on a ring somewhere IRL and then I think someone here did that too. I want versatility- there will be times when I will just wear a plain wband, or one blingy wband, or 3 stacking rings, etc. I definetely want to play with color- I had just figured the color would be in center band and then I saw a Simon G band with 2 pink pave flanking and E-W marquis eternity band... it was gorgeous and thought the Ritani single shared prong in the center would give a similar look. We won''t be getting all these things at first... just the e-ring and a plain band, but I have to make the decision on the look I will ultimately have before getting the ering. OY decisions decisions.

I had a LM setting made. It was absolutely beautiful. This is the ring http://www.artofplatinum.com/4images/details.php?image_id=42. I always loved antique-ish settings so it took me a long time to find this setting. My sister in law bought me an ultrasonic cleaner last Christmas and I cleaned the ring weekly. A diamond fell off 3 months after I got it. I don''t know if it''s the cleaner or because of the micropave. I guess it doesn''t matter because I lost the ring 4 months after that. Yes, luckily, it was insured. Who loses their ring after 7 months? I guess me! I am currently in the process of getting another ring and as much as I love pave, I am trying to find something that is a little more durable. I wear my ring 24/7 so I wouldn''t want to take it to LM every time I lose a diamond (it''s kinda tough especially since I am in Colorado). Hope this helps.

I believe that a major issue of durability in all jewelry has to do with the metalurgy involved in the creation process. There are many choices about alloys and manufacturing methods which have long term consequences on durability and stone security. These choices are invisible to the consumer and mostly unknown to the retailer. When one brand stands out as being ''trouble free'', the liklihood is that their metal chemistry is the right choice.[/quote]

Here is the true response to pave setting. Could not have said it better.
