Tsavorites purchased - opinions appreciated

Not sure if it's dead center, I'm trying! Actually, it is my daughter, who is on college break, who is trying as I have given up. I see the tilt window, absolutely. I would have preferred to post the price privately, but completely understand forum policy. The cost of the stone was $650. Then, of course, there was the price of the pendant setting, chain, & 5mm stones (not even considering keeping) that made this project cost a bit more than I had thought, considering how good I was to myself this past year.

I also don't mind helping!

I hope this is of some assistance .......... can you see in the photo on the left the square? this represents the table of the stone ie the top flat bit. That is the bit that has to be straight on towards you. Rather than trying to prop it up with a skewer, put it on the table and then you move the camera/iPad upwards or downwards until you see the square head on.

Ok, the photo that has always worried me is on the right. You can see where the arrow is pointing that the outline of your finger under the stone is easy to see. Can you see this in real life?

Like Chrono says, for a pendant, these issues are not important (unless you're paying top $). However, for a ring this would bug the life out of me.

Sorry - we were posting at the same time. Here's your latest photo but the right way up. I really do think that's a window and the fact you can see the rod behind it worries me. There appears to be a general lack of facets which is amplifying this.

I think whether or not this is a keeper depends on price and whether you are happy with the stone.

Looks just about straight on to me (still slightly tilted based on the angle of the rod but close enough to make a good guess). Price is reasonable but the window isn't. It looks fairly large.

Thank you both. I think it is time for the stone to be returned. I would rather sacrifice the 5mm stones and pay more for a better pendant stone. Guess the saga will continue.

I am sorry these did not work out for you. If you are open to continuing to work with Prima, you can ask them for a better cut stone. I've done so and he's come through for me.

Yes, as soon as they know you WANT a better cut, you stop seeing the wonky ones from them, in my experience.

I hope they come through. Otherwise, I will be asking for help on how to source a stone on my own and that is something I really am not looking forward to. Again, thank you all for your input. I know I made the right decision but I am feeling disappointed that this did not work out.

Finding a perfect gemstone is always a challenge. It can sometimes takes months or years until the special one comes along but it'll be worth waiting for. The trick is not compromising and keeping stones that you feel are a little "blah" and wasting money that way (that comes from bitter experience I'm afraid)!

Make sure YOU are comfortable with whatever route you choose for this stone. Don't forget PS won't be sitting on your shoulder wearing it with you and jewellery is very personal.

I can make some compromises being that I have such narrow limitations as to size and don't have the patience to wait years to find just the right stone. However, I can only compromise up to a point before I just won't be able to enjoy my new "treasure" the way I should.
