Hello everyone--

Enthusiastic lurker here has been trying to drink up all of the collective wisdom of PS and I've learned about Moh hardness but I'm still enchanted by rings that pair diverse stones. For instance, turquoise and diamonds:

The bottom ring is specifically sold as an e-ring. Thoughts on whether it can stand the test of time, particularly if not worn every day? Thanks so much.

I am unable to open/see the pictures so I'll answer it in a general fashion. There's nothing really wrong or unsafe to have turqoise and diamonds set together in a ring. The only stipulation is that it must be cared for more carefully, in this case, no ultrasonic, steam, cleaning chemicals and the like. I do question its durability being worn as an e-ring stone but it is certainly possible with care and caution, if the wearer accepts the risks.

Chrono's advice is right, turquoise needs care if worn every day -- such as taking rings off when messing around the kitchen, washing hands, etc. But I love turquoise & diamonds together! Neither of those rings turn me on especially, but it's a matter of personal taste.

A great example is this parure, originally given to Queen Mary when she married George V, then passed to her d-i-l, the Duchess of Gloucester & still in that family:

I love turquoise surrounded by diamonds, and so did Elizabeth Taylor as she had some pieces that recently sold at auction. :naughty:

Chrono's advice is correct.

Thanks so much, everyone. It's good to know that as a piece of jewelry it's not fundamentally flawed....It would just require extra care.

didn't someone at the golden globe awards wear such a piece sunday night?

I ended up being able to get the links to work. Very pretty!

I think the ring is LOVELY!

I also love Turquoise and diamond but please ask the question if it's reconstituted Turquoise.

I love the idea myself.

ETA: Just saw the link you posted. Very pretty. Turquoise always looks great with yellow gold.

Yes I noticed it too. At first I thought it might be an opal. But now I think it was turquoise. There was also a larger ring that looked like it could have been dark green jade. And of course the emerald three stone!
