Uh oh - loving this Steven Kirsch setting

Really Charmy? I've never seen bigger than a 1 and my friends and colleagues definitely don't have bigger than a 1! That's good to know - it's interesting how things can vary so much based on the circles you travel in. Mind you I don't normally ask acquaintances how big their rings are and perhaps they do have 1+ carats that don't look that way to me due to finger size or the diamond quality. Also I got engaged 10 years ago and it seems ering diamonds are getting bigger? A handful of girls at my work got engaged and they are definitely less than 1 though.

Wait I have seen bigger bigger but only handful of times. More established women with grown children though.

I sent a note to Fortunes Fine Jewelerry based on the review by MikeJones. Hopefully he can make the SK ring in my budget. They have a ring on their site that looks dainty with bright cut pave and milgrain. Took a screen cap. Otherwise I'm tempted to just wait and save til I can afford the SK ring.

Gypsy is the queen of setting suggestions...but here's another one from a setting novice.

I did try on this one that is $1800 from Amavida/Gabriel NY in a jewelry store.

I wanted a sub halo and six prongs too. It was made for a 9mm stone.

I also wanted a very thin paved shank and the knife edge pave gives
that really thin shank look. This setting was so fine and delicate, I really loved it on my
size 5 finger.

Good luck with your search.

Hmm I'm thinking I still like the simplicity of the original SK design. Will contact ERD now.

Wow, all of these settings are amazing but I'm still drawn to the beauty of that original SK design as well. Would you mind letting us know what you hear from ERD?

I have helped a lot of people buy diamonds on another Canadian based forum as well. Most of them were looking for 1 ct plus. Many of my friends got enagaged about 5 to 10 years ago and we're mostly 1ct plus. Friends getting engaged now are in the same range. It could be my circles and people I work with. I don't see 3 cts and up unless I am strolling yorkville which I rarely do.

I don't really stare at people's fingers. I am at walmart now and looking around. I see no rings at all.

You should check put Leif Benner and PH Designs while you are at it to get a feel for local talent. I know everyone that has worked with Leif raves about him.

There is a Toronto diamond guy that posts on another forum. He seems very knowledgeable and people on that forum has given good feedback about his prices and services. Red flag deals.

I love it too Roxy. But I wonder what the under halo is doing...is it just a neat design element you can see from n angle only? Not sure if it's needed then or if I should just do the same setting minus the under halo.

Can I get some opinions?

I'll definitely let you know what ERD says.

Charmy that may explain it.people on forums are more research oriented whereas the average person is more likely to buy bricks and mortar, and due to markup can't afford 1 and up. Perhaps your friends have benefitted from your extensive knowledge which is great!

Ariel that setting looks really nice. I found someone in Toronto who may be able to do a similar setting close to my budget. So I'll meet with him and see what he says, as well as ERD.
