Umm, ok. FI might, just possibly, be the cutest ever.

FI works a desk job, and on days that I'm home we end up instant-messenging a good portion of the day.

I was IMing him ideas for decor and photography, and then he started finding lanterns, etc. to hang in the trees and to use for our centerpieces. He started getting really pumped about it, then sent me this:

"I am so into the decorating, if i could i would go in and decorate for an entire day before. I can already tell that i am going to get extremely anal about details... I just am going to have to let it go for the most part, it will be hard for me though. When we re-visited the venue I was looking at the most minute things and thinking how i wanted to fix them then, but there is no point since we won't be there for a year!"

Okay, for reference, he is normally the MOST laid-back guy... not anal about details at all, not really into decorating, and a "normal guy" about most wedding plans (i.e. "I'm happy if you're happy" or "whatever you think looks good is fine with me"). So to have him get this excited about picking lanterns and decorating our venue... it just completely melted my heart.

Okay, I just wanted to share the cuteness!

I love stories like that. I find it completely amazing how many men suddenly have strong opinions about stuff like that when it comes to their weddings. It''s really common, in fact I have a very good friend who was married two weeks before me and a very good friend who''s getting married this weekend and many of our wedding conversations were centered around how amusing we thought it was that our laid-back, care-free, wouldn''t-care-if-you-painted-the-living-room-fuschia finaces suddenly wanted to be a part of choosing the dishes, the linens and even their own attire, haha! I think it''s great, I say that if he wants to hang paper lanterns from the tree and choose the centerpiece, he should go for it! There were so many details in our wedding that were (strangely) important to my fiance and I loved it!

I know, it''s so fun!! I was so surprised to hear him get so excited. We''ve been engaged for 8 months now, but I think his interest is peaked now that we''ve crossed the 1-year-and-counting mark. It''s like getting engaged all over again

musey, I know exactly what you mean! Mr. Surfgirl showed minimal interest in wedding/elopement details and kept on haranguing me about "the DRESS" hanging in a white bag in my office. He kept saying how he wanted to wear shorts of something comfy on our wedding day and I''d just roll my eyes and walk away. Then three weeks before the wedding he gets into a panic because he simply has to find something suitable to wear for his wedding and he wants to look a certain way and all. It was cute. And in the end he looked very good. Men. They''re really weird creatures aren''t they? They say "whatever you want dear" but what I think they really mean is "I have no idea...but if I did have an idea, man would I tell you!"

PSers seem to be among the luckiest when it comes to their cute men

LOL, musey...that was just too cute! Thanks for sharing!

That''s adorable Musey! Mr. Monarch was not really into anything except the tuxes and the bar offerings, and thank goodness because we likely would''ve butted heads over decorating decisions! (We''re both verrrrry opinionated so usually one of us lets the other take the reins and the other stays out of it, lol).

Haha, you think it''s cute now... But just you wait!

I''m only half-kidding; if your FI wants to be involved that''s great! Just don''t let him dump all the work on you after he''s contributed to making the decisions.
